AN/ hey guys! Thanks so much for reading my story, I would really appreciate a vote and lmk if there's anything you wanna see happen in the story!

Wren and Johnny sat on the mats on the floor of the dojo after practice was over and Wren pulled her phone out of her bag, FaceTiming her mother. "She's going to murder me..." Wren muttered, watching her mother pick up. "Hi mom!" She grinned, keeping the phone closer to her face to keep out the background.

"Oh give me that!" Johnny snatched the phone from Wren, watching Ali's smile go from a confused look, she still looked as pretty as when they were in high school. " Your ex husband is a douche bag and you're working too much so Wren is staying with me for a while. She's already come running off to California and I will keep her out of trouble and in karate and enroll her in school before it starts at the beginning of next month."

Wrens mouth dropped open as Johnny spoke to her mom. She knew he could be blunt and certainly lack a filter pretty much all the time, but she didn't expect him to just... do that.

Ali sighed from the screen, "Would you be surprised if I told you that I wasn't even surprised...the neighbors saw her leave," Ali informed Johnny and Johnny looked at Wren, who smacked her forehead with her hand. She hadn't thought about that.

"Look, Johnny, you of all people know that all I want is for my only kid to be happy. I am about to step into a work meeting, but I will call back after and we can discuss everything, and I can send her money monthly, you shouldn't have to pay for her, she's expensive," Ali laughed and Wren made a face.

"Yeah, I remember spending big money on a pink bike at somebody's eighth birthday," he scoffed. "You still have that? Maybe I will make you ride that to school," he joked and Wren whacked his arm. Ali laughed again, "Well, considering her seventeenth birthday is coming up, I was going to get her a car, but maybe I will just have to come there and sort it out, so you don't have to drive her around."

Wren snatched the phone, eyes wide, "really? Thank you so much! I'm sorry I ran away... but not really ran away," she looked down. "We will talk about it when I come visit next weekend, some California sunshine sounds fantastic," her mother smiled. " I have to go, I love you. Johnny we will talk later!" And with that, Ali hung up.

Johnny and Wren looked at each other, "You hungry?" He asked. Wren nodded, "Can we go to the mall? I need a few things," she grinned. Johnny groaned, "better idea. We do dinner and tomorrow you drag Miguel to the mall," he reasoned. "It's the least he can do for knocking you over," Johnny joked, getting up off the mat. Wren laughed, getting up as well, "Okay, but is that one diner still around? I want cheese fries."

"I like the way you think, kid. I really do."

The next day, Johnny dropped Miguel and Wren off at the mall and the two of them went bopping from store to store as Wren picked up a few things she needed until her mom came the next weekend for a full haul of stuff. "Your mom must be really cool for her to just let you stay like this," Miguel mused as they looked at different band t-shirts on the rack. "Honestly, if Johnny hadn't backed me up, she probably would've dragged me home, she doesn't like being a burden to other people and doesn't want me to be one either."

Miguel looked up, his face scrunching up. "I think sensei is happy to have you here, you're not a burden...we are all happy you're here," he stated sincerely. Wren grinned at him and he grinned back, "Let's go get smoothies, Sensei will probably be here soon," he stated and Wren nodded as they walked out of the store and toward the food court. "I don't think I will ever get used to calling Johnny sensei..." she laughed.

They chatted along the way, talking about Cobra Kai and the All Valley tournament that would be coming up in a few months. "I mean, if you spar like that all the time, I think you could definitely place high, I've never seen Hawk get flipped by a girl...you're gonna have to do it again," Miguel laughed as they walked over to the smoothie stand. Wren snickered as she looked at the menu, "I don't think he minded being man handled too much," Miguel teased and Wren could feel her cheeks heat up.
