Hunter threw me an amused look from the other side of the elevator as we rode up to our hotel room.
I simply shook my head in response, but there was no hiding the light giggle that escaped my lips as I glanced down at my interesting choice in clothes - or lack thereof.
That giggle turned into complete laughter as I threw another peek at Hunter, who stood bare-chested beside me.
I had to wear Hunter's button-up shirt inside the hotel, and only that, seeing as my dress was torn in half and discarded in his car. We hadn't really thought about that in the heat of the moment, but it was well worth the judgmental looks the guests in the lobby sent our way as we walked in, Hunter cruising beside me shirtless and with his jeans half-buttoned.
His shirt covered me up a surprisingly decent amount, almost looking like a dress on my small frame, but there was no question as to what we had been occupied with as we traipsed our way past the gaping patrons.
I would have thought myself to be burning with embarrassment at such an incident, yet I couldn't even bring myself to be ashamed or regretful as we had made our way to the elevator. Not with Hunter. He made all that other shit seem irrelevant.
Never in a million years could I have imagined I would fall in love, but it was no longer a question anymore. I simply hated how long it took me to realize it. With Hunter, I could say those three words endlessly. And I would, just because I finally could.
He practically made me repeat it the whole car ride home. And I did. I didn't mind it, not when I saw the smile on his face and the gleam in his eyes when the words left my lips.
I couldn't imagine how it must have felt for him to hear it from me, especially when I had been so guarded against him for so long.
Hunter joined in on my laughter in the elevator, pulling me out of my thoughts as he seemingly caught on to how ridiculously entertaining our current situation was.
"You should wear that more often," he murmured with a lopsided grin.
"Oh, sure. Because it's such a fashion statement."
Chuckling, Hunter ran a heated gaze down my body, stopping where the hem of his shirt touched my thighs. Shaking his head slowly, he said, "You're right, you shouldn't wear it. I would never be able to get anything done."
I sent him a perplexed look.
"I'd be too busy doing you," he explained with a panty-dropping wink.
Fucking hell. Heat pooled low inside of me, and it was a battle to keep my cheeks from burning bright red at his words.
I didn't think there was ever a time when sex wasn't on Hunter's mind.
Hunter simply chuckled at my expression, and after I caught my breath, I joined in, unable to keep a straight face at our predicament.
We didn't stop laughing, not until we got back to our room and finally shut the door. Only then did our laughter die down, replaced by a soft sigh as the exhaustion from the long day hit us.
I immediately hopped into bed, not even bothering to change out of Hunter's shirt as I settled under the covers. What could I say, I was beat from all that energy we had expended in the car.
It seemed Hunter was too as he followed suit, slipping off his jeans and sliding into bed beside me.
As he pulled me into his grasp, wrapping a gentle arm around my waist, he laid a soft kiss against my temple and whispered a quiet goodnight.
