Rise of Voltron Part 3

Selene's POV

We made it back to Arus and had the lions in front of where the Black Lion was locked away. I was standing by Keith, after I flew out of the hatch, and we were back on solid ground, he didn't want me out of his sight. Shiro was standing in front of the door, ready to meet Black. The door opened and there he was. The Black Lion!  He roared and the other lions responded in kind. I stepped forward to get a better look the Black. "Hello Selene, daughter of Oliri." I guess Purple filled him in. We heard an alarm go off indicating that Sendak had entered the Arusian atmosphere. "Sendak is entering the Arusian atmosphere! We need Voltron now!" Allura said over the comms. We all hopped into our lions and flew out of the castle. We saw that the particle barrier was working and keeping the fighters at bay. We landed on the bridge in front of the castle, I was ready to fight, and Purple felt that too. "Just like your mother, always ready to fight for what is right." I smiled and patted her consul. I then saw the ion cannon about to fire. "Allura come in, the ion cannon is about to fire!" It sent a powerful beam right at us! It was so strong, we could feel the vibrations from the impact. "Man, those Galra guys repair things fast." Hunk told us through the comms. 

Coran then told us that the barrier was weakening.  "I can give you cover with the castle defenses for a while, but you have to form Voltron now or we'll all be destroyed!" Allura exclaimed. Sendak sent another blast from the ion cannon at us. The barrier's power was weakening even more. "Listen up, Team Voltron! The only way to succeed id to give it all you've got! This looks bad, but we can do this! Are you with me?" Shiro asked us through comms. I nodded my head and I assumed everyone else did too. "I'm nodding. Is everyone else nodding?" Hunk asked us and we all responded with a yes. "Let's do this!" And we all flew out of the barrier. "How though?" Lance asked. "Good question. Does anyone have any ideas of how to form Voltron?" Shiro asked us. "I don't know but for now, lets try to get rid of the fighters and give Allura and Coran more time." I said. So I flew Purple up and started to blast the fighters. "Awesome accuracy!!" I told her. "Thanks, you're not to bad for a beginner." Purple snickered. I just laughed. Hunk also commented on how he didn't see a combine button on his dashboard. "I wonder if it is more of a psychic connection." I mumbled to myself. 

"This is insane! Can't they cease for for one minute while we figure this out?" Pidge asked annoyed. "That is what they want Pidge. To wear us out so they can pick us off." I told her while I got Purple to the ground, she started to run in line with the other lions. Pidge then back up and Green jumped and caught a fighter in her mouth, she then threw it at another fighter and both exploded. "Nice one Green!" I commented, she just purred in response. Keith was able to blast some more of the fighters. "We've got to do something." Then Hunk and Yellow rammed into Keith and Red. "Yellow, what was that about?" Red was not happy. "Sorry, just trying different options. You have to remember these guys are new at this." Red just muttered. "Black, you're the head, any idea what to do?" I asked the Black Lion. "You have to feel the bond with us and your fellow paladins. Trust each other!" I then closed my eyes and took deep breaths. "Purple can you take over please?" She nodded and started to fire on her own. "Quickly paladins! Our energy levels are low!" Allura was then cut off by the constant fire. "Guys, we have to feel the bond with our lions and each other." I told the other paladins. "Ok, maybe if we fly in formation we'll just combine." Shiro told us. 'How is that going to help us?' But I kept my mouth shut. We then took off on Shiro's cue. 

But nothing was happening. Then I felt something, but it felt abnormal. I looked outside and saw that we were caught in a tractor beam. "Guys, Sendak is pulling us in!!!!!" I screamed. "I don't care what you say Shiro, I'm panicking now!!" Poor Hunk was freaking out. "It can't end here!" Pidge screamed. "This is it!" Lance screamed back. "It's been an honor flying with you guys." Keith said. How could they all give up? I gripped the controls tighter. "No!! It isn't stopping here!!! We can't give up, the universe is counting on us now. If we don't stop the Galra and Zarkon, then who will? We have to keep pushing ahead! I believe in us and the lions, lets protect each other and everything that we love!!!" Then the lions started to glow and I felt a positive energy. "Your words have moved us Selene." I smiled and thanked the lions. We then started to form Voltron! Lance and Hunk became the legs. Keith and Pidge are the arms, Purple became the armor around the chest and Shiro was the head. 

"I can't believe it!" "We formed Voltron!" "I'm a leg!" "How are we doing this?" A screen then came up in front of me showing Voltron. "Wow, this is awesome!!!" I screamed. "I don't know, but let's get that cannon!" Shiro told us. Green and Red grabbed the cannon and ripped it right off of the ship! Keith then shoved Red's head in the ship and fired into the engine room. It shot straight through the ship. We then breached the ship and shot some of the wires away. We flew around and destroyed the ship then flew back to the ground. Soon we were on the ground, and Allura and Coran came rushing out. "Good work, paladins!" We sighed in relief. "Thanks pretty lady." I flicked Lance in the head. I mean he is flirting with my aunt for crying out loud!! I then turned around and jumped on Keith. "We did it." He took his helmet off and wrapped his arms around me. "Heck yeah we did." Shiro asked how we did it. Hunk then commented on how he was screaming the whole time, and maybe that did it. "I think Selene actually did it." Pidge said, and everyone looked at me. "Pidge is right, you never gave up, it was like you ignited a spark inside of us." Shiro told me. Allura then walked up to me and put a hand to my cheek. "Your mother would be so proud of you." I felt my eyes tear up and I hugged her.

I saw that Pidge looked down, so I let go of my aunt and gave Pidge a hug. "We'll find your brother, father and my mom. We're not going to stop until we do." She just hugged back. "We won the battle, but the war has only just begun. I'm afraid Zarkon will not stop until he gets these lions." Allura told us. "Good thing you paladins know what you're doing, because you're going to have to reform Voltron again and again." Oh boy. "If that is what it takes then lets do it." I said and fist pumped the air. "It's not going to be easy being the Defenders of the Universe." Coran told us. "Defenders of the Universe, huh? That's got a nice ring to it." Then we all looked at the lions with pride.
