Return to the Balmera

Keith's POV

We had just finished rescuing the Blue Lion from those rouges. Now, we were on our way to the Balmera to save it and its people. Selene was still in the cryo pods healing, we don't understand why its taken so long for her to heal. Pidge theorized that is had something to do with her teeth growing, and her fighting more fiercely. All of the paladins, Allura and Coran along with myself were in the cryo chambers waiting for Selene. "I can't believe it has taken this long!" Pidge yelled. Pidge finally told us she was a girl, I wish Selene could've seen Lance's reaction, it was priceless. "Princess, a few more ticks, then Selene can come out." Coran told us, we all breathed in relief. "That's good, the Lions are seeming pretty restless without her." Shiro was right, all of the lions seemed down, they must've fueled what we were going through. I was kicked out of my thoughts when I saw the chamber opening, and Selene fell out into my arms. I saw her sky blue eyes opening at last.

Selene's POV

I was finally able to open my eyes, and I was met with Keith's hazel gray ones. "Keith." I muttered, I was still kind of weak. "Yeah, I'm here." He pulled me into a hug and I hugged him just as tightly back. "Selene!" I managed to look behind Keith and saw everyone else there. Galaxy and the mice ran up and jumped onto me, luckily Keith was there, otherwise I would have fallen. "It's nice to see you too." Galaxy was nuzzling into me. "Let's get you changed and get you some food." Allura told me, I nodded my head. Keith and Pidge walked with me to my room, Keith let Pidge take me so I could change. "I'm glad you decided to stay." I told her. "Me too. I also told everyone that I'm a girl." I was proud of her, she helped my change into my original clothes and we walked out to Keith. I was able to walk on my own, but, Keith wanted to be sure so he walked right next to me. We finally made it to the dining hall, and saw that Hunk and made me some food. "Thanks Hunk." He nodded his head in appreciation. They filled me in on what I missed while unconscious. From Lance waking up, to him being a moron.

"I can't believe you let them take Blue!" I flicked his forehead. "Hey!" He rubbed his forehead and pouted. I finished eating and drank more water. "So, are we nearly to the Balmera?" Coran pulled up a map and nodded his head. "Let's head to the bridge then." We all walked to the bridge and we saw the castle coming closer to the Balmera, it was beautiful, from here anyway. "We'll be arriving at the Balmera soon. Liberating these Balmerans from Zarkon's grasp will not be easy." Allura told us. "So, what's the plan? We go in there and just-- pow, pow, pow! And free the prisoners?" What was that? Keith then took he words right out of my mouth. "What was that noise?" Keith asked the blue paladin with a deadpan look. Lance then smirked at Keith. "Laser guns." Oh boy. Then Hunk took over. "No, Lance, I think you mean--" He then bends his knees and does his own imitation of laser guns. Lance then crosses his arms in denial. "That sounds like fireworks." Oh vey, the mice and Galaxy felt me pain and gave me 'really' looks. Pidge then put her input of laser guns in. Really?!

"Technically, they're more like-- ba-choo, ba-choo, ba-choo!" While making little guns out of her fingers. Poor Allura looked so confused. Finally Shiro stepped in. "Okay, enough with the bad sound effects." 'Thank you.' "Besides they're more like blam, blam, blam!" He got down on one knee and did his impersonation. "Ok, enough guys!" I screamed and they all hid behind Allura. "Sorry." They muttered. I just laughed with Galaxy and the mice. "Besides, we can't just shoot at the Galra. This Balmera, its, like, alive." Then Coran pulled up a scan of the Balmera, and it was starting to die, I felt like crying. "And from what we've seen, it doesn't look very good." The poor thing. "Yes, it's an atrocity what the Galra have been doing to this grand beast." Coran then pulled up a picture of what the surface looks like, and it was horrifying. "Stealing its crystals, its very life force, without ever performing the rejuvenation ceremonies to heal it." The picture then pulled up a drawing of Alteans performing the ceremony. Hunk then spoke up, "After seeing Shay's people enslaved, it made me realize how bad Zarkon really is. And we're the only ones who can stop him." Hunk was right, but what caused him to go nuts? I mean, was he like this his entire life?
