Pallavi exited the car with grace and poise while Raghav followed behind her. Pallavi's dress sat nicely on her lithe frame and her makeup and hair was retouched up. On the other hand, Raghav had yet to tuck his crinkled dress shirt into his pants when he exited the car. When he finally did so and ditched the option of wearing the waistcoat, tie, and suit jacket, they walked towards the restaurant.
The moment the couple walked into the restaurant, Pallavi noticed its elegance. There were foreigners dining at different tables and the restaurant was filled with people speaking different languages. She also noticed that the restaurant served multiple cuisines consisting of Indian, Thai, Chinese, and more.
The two were greeted by a staff member and taken to be seated after they said they had a reservation under "Rao." The table they were now seated at was against the window walls, on the second floor of the restaurant. They were sitting across from each other and reading their menus silently.
"Tum kya order karega?" Raghav asked Pallavi.
Pallavi, annoyed at Raghav, didn't bother responding as she flipped the menu over to view the drinks.
"Mein toh kuch light hi khaunga," Raghav said, trying to get Pallavi to engage in the currently one-sided conversation.
She hummed at his answer to acknowledge it but didn't reply otherwise.
"Good evening, Ma'am and Sir. My name is Arshad and I'll be your waiter tonight. What can I get for your drinks?" Arshad asked, his Indian accent was laid thick onto the English words he spoke.
"Water is fine for me," Pallavi replied. "I think we are also ready to order the main course."
"Wait—" Raghav started to say but Pallavi already rattled off her order.
"And you, Sir?" Arshad asked.
"He'll have a water as well," Pallavi interrupted Raghav, who was about to speak to answer the waiter's question. "And one chicken biryani."
"Okay, Ma'am," Arshad said.
"Oh, hello!...Kya hai tera naam? Haan, Angad! Kya 'okay, Ma'am'? Yeh tera customer service hai? Ek customer ka order ke liye tu dusre customer se poochega?" Raghav said, his tone made the lanky waiter scramble backwards.
"Nahi, Sir. I'm sorry, Sir. Phirse nahi hoga. Aapko kya chahiye?" Arshad asked again, not bothering to correct Raghav for addressing him incorrectly.
"Chicken biryani," he mumbled, embarrassed when he realized his wife knew him well. His face became flushed but Arshad didn't comment on it. "Aur red wine," Raghav added.
Then, the waiter asked him what type of red wine he'd like.
Raghav answered, "I'll have a Pinot Noir."
"Raghav, we discussed this," Pallavi hissed at him in anger when the waiter walked away with their orders.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," the man said and pulled out his phone to pretend to be busy.
