as i read the news these past couple of weeks, my heart goes out to all Afghani women and girls right now who did not want this to happen 💗 i really hope the freedom you all fought for, dreamed of, lived with will not be taken away. as a women myself, i cannot imagine what i would do in that situation. seriously, my prayers are with you all 🙏🏽
tw // sexual harassment: and as if that wasn't enough, on August 14th, on Pakistan's independence day, in Lahore, Pakistan a woman was sexually harassed, had her clothes torn, was thrown in the air multiple times in a mob of 300-400 fucking men. people who have such sick mentalities to commit such crimes don't fucking deserve any independence! and those who stand by in silence, when a women is crying for help deserve the worst too. my blood is literally boiling when thinking about the pain that woman has gone through. and then men have the nerve to say "not ALL men" when there were ~400 men standing right there, not defending that woman and taking videos instead. absolutely fucking sick-minded, vile creatures. ironically, on a day where a nation is supposed to celebrate freedom, the women of that nation are still not free from men with disgusting mentalities. i hope the pain eases for the victim and she receives justice 🙏🏽 remember to NEVER blame a victim of harassment/assault because it is ALWAYS the perpetrators fault!!!
It was a pleasant night, regarding the weather being bearable and skies being clear, but the night wasn't as pleasant as Pallavi Deshmukh had hoped for it to be. Throughout the day she had been working at the Deshmukh Saree Emporium (DSE), attending to customers in-person and via phone call. Her legs and arms were aching from standing, and unfolding and refolding sarees to show customers the designs. Krishna was on leave so she was the only one in the store today when Raghav had stopped by after lunch.
As usual, he reminded her of the challenge they'd agreed on and threatened to kick her out of "his" city. He spoke as if all the citizens living in Hyderabad paid taxes to him rather than the government. Pallavi had just scoffed at him then and had raised her voice to tell him to leave when he offered a proposition for her.
He accepted, although reluctantly, that the quality of DSE sarees were unique and made a custom order of seventy sarees. In addition to that, he had set a deadline and wanted a design for his unique sarees by tomorrow morning. Pallavi, not one to refuse a large order, accepted the offer while mentally calculating how many hours she had left to deliver a presentable design. Without anything further to discuss, Raghav left her alone with one final reminder to be at his house before 8AM tomorrow with the design.
As soon as Raghav left, Pallavi got busy with the order while simultaneously helping new customers. Soon, it was closing time for the store and she had yet to complete a decent design to submit to Raghav.
"Di, aap kahan ho?" Nikhil's voice came through the receiver of the phone she was currently holding to call him.
"Main abhi bhi store mein hoon. Ek order mila hai aur deadline kal subah ka hai aur bas aaj hi order mila. Toh mein shayad aaj raat store mein thodi dhair aur rahungi taaki order ko complete kar sakti hoon," she said, sketching out another design on her notepad.
