In my last life, I did something funny

It was exhilarating, and new
At first I was unsure, then I was scared

'Should I really do this?' I thought

But before I could stop myself no, I already did

In my last life, I woke up at 5 In the morning
Made grits, fish, and vegetables for breakfast
I jogged around the city
Greeted the neighbors and store owner
I went home and checked the date
A very special day
In the evening I dressed my best
She came to pick me up
I went with her
She made small talk
I replied and asked about our plans
It was a secret, so she didn't tell

Even so, I made plans of my own
We had a date
The moon was full as we sat by a beautiful melancholy lake
I remember thinking about my lives before
No matter her courtship, I turned her away
I never got close, in fear of losing my life
But not in my last life
In my last life, I did what I never thought I would

I gave my heart to her

I welcomed her endless pursuit
Her overflowing and boundless love

The moment I accepted her and planned to take a knee

I took a knife instead

Tears threatened to came out of her eyes, but she held them back as she did what she must

I don't know why I was surprised

She was always destined to kill me

No matter how endless her love seemed, there would always be boundaries

In truth, I felt more pain from the holder of the knife than the knife itself

In my last life, what I did was truly laughable

I truly,

Truly,

Fell in love

It was a mistake
