Two more hands to hold, two more eyes to gaze at, two more feet to run after, and one more heart to beat with ours.
Will watched with wonder and amazement at his tiny daughter, as she slept soundly in his arms. This was a rare moment that Will was going to cherish, for the time being, alone time with Sofia. In the last two weeks his house had been filled with family and friends over to celebrate the new arrival. lots of helpful tips and unhelpful tips, sleepless nights with new parents trying to calm a wailing baby at every hour of the night and to cap it all off, Halt was a baby hogger who would basically hiss at you if you even tried to take the baby back. So yeah not much time for Will and this new bundle of joy.
Will was rocking her in the new nursery they added on to the cabin while Alyss was taking a well-deserved power nap. Sofia was holding on to his finger and for a newborn, she had such a powerful grip, but she was still so fragile that he feared that he would injure her tiny little frame. He didn't have the softest hands, but she didn't seem to mind.
How did he get so lucky to have her? His whole life he dreamed of having a family to call his own. Sometimes in moments like this, he wonders if his father would be proud of him just like Halt is. Growing up without a father was rough until he met Halt. What if Sofia has to grow up without him. That thought stabbed at Will's heart, he would never want that to happen to her, but it was more possible then Will would have liked it. The more he thought about it the more he concluded that if he died she would not be alone. Someone would fill in his shoes and become her father figure just as Halt had done for him all those years ago.
Little Sofia made a whimpering sound that broke Will from his thoughts, as she squirmed in his arms. Will shifted his arm and started to rock back and forth in the rocking chair, and as he hummed cabin in the woods she slowly drifted back to sleep. Will got the message loud and clear no more depressing thoughts. It seems that his daughter had gotten the gift from her mother of being able to read people's thoughts. "Don't worry I'm not leaving you anytime soon. I intend to stick around." Will quietly whispered to his daughter.
He couldn't help but smile at Sofia as he gazed at her again. She was the perfect combination of him and Alyss. She had a mop of brown hair like Will, and breathtaking blue-grey eyes that will likely turn into a shade like her mother's. But for some odd reason, she had Halt's eyebrow raise to perfection. A sassy look that no two-week-old baby should know. Halt was all but too happy to find this out I'm sure he's the one that taught her Will thought wryly. He was a little worried about what else Halt would teach his daughter for the years to come.
Will yawned as his eyelids started to fall, exhaustion was starting to catch up with him. And with that, he dozed off in the chair. Alyss would awake later to find her two most precious people fast asleep, a perfect moment that she would never forget.Hey, so it's been a while since I've written a story, and I'm so sorry about that but school has been crazy and I'm kinda running out of ideas to write on, so if you have any ideas I would love to hear them and hopefully write them. Hope you enjoyed this sweet little story. Bye love you!!
