2.03 - Ellis Grey

It had been about a week and the interns were at work, watching Alex and Izzie laughing together. "What is she doing?" Cristina asks.

"She's hanging out with Alex" George states, though he seems unsure of the situation.

"Why?"

"I don't know. I think... I think they might be friends" George stutters.

"I don't get why you all hate him. I think he's nice" Effy admits.

The interns are now walking in the hallway during rounds. "You guys are wrong about him, all right? Once you get to know him, he's really sweet" Izzie tries.

"Izzie's right. Alex is a good guy" Effy agrees.

"Of course you would say that" George argues.

"What's that supposed to mean?" When George stays silent, Effy sighs, walking faster to keep up with Meredith and Cristina.

"Hey Grey. Izzie was telling me you have tapes of your mom performing surgery. I'd kill to see the Ellis Grey in action" Alex calls from in front of them.

"Hey you know what? Maybe you can come over tonight and we can all watch it together? Right?"

"Great idea, Izzie" Elizabeth nods.

Meredith, Cristina & George look at Izzie and Effy disbelievingly. "Oh yeah, if this were a hell dimension" Meredith complains.

"Yeah, run away pig boy" Cristina adds.

"Are we saving lives or having a tea party? Walk faster people" Bailey orders as the interns rush to keep up with their resident.

In Mr. Gaston's room, Bailey's interns are surrounding his bed side with Dr. Burke. "Mr. Gaston is scheduled for resection non-small cell carcinoma today. He did well overnight, has remained afebrile. He's had a dose of ceftriaxone this morning. His pre-op labs are unremarkable. His chest x-rays, um, are unchanged from the previous" Cristina explains.

"I own a couple of dry-cleaning stores. Never believed what they said about inhaling the chemicals, but..." Mr Gaston says.

"We're going to do everything we can for you, Mr. Gaston. Did Oncology see him yet?"

"Uh, they're waiting for the surgical path" The intern nods.

"Thank you, Dr. Yang"

"You're welcome, Dr. Burke" Effy looks at her friend confused but brushes off her behaviour, making a mental note to speak to her about it later.

In Kelly Roche's room, Dr. Bailey's group is now gathered around her. Cristina is looking through a medical book. "Kelly Roche. She's 23 years old. In for a scheduled ETS for treatment of her erythrophobia hyperpyrexia" Alex explains.

"You have any questions about the procedure?" Bailey asks the patient.

"Oh. Dr. Sh ..." Kelly cuts herself off, trying to get rid of her blush. Effy assists by fanning her with a magazine she found beside the bed. "... Dr. Shepherd explained everything. He was very... huh...helpful. He gave me some literat... sorry...

"Don't be. Half the patients that come through here have the hots for Shepherd" Effy smiles, still fanning the patient.

"Dr. Ricci"

"I mean, she's not wrong" Alex agrees.

Effy, George and Meredith are at the vending machine, watching Alex and Izzie, when Bailey appears. "Hey, there's a new surgical case coming up from the pit. Likely diverticulitis. Let's go" She orders as the interns follow her.
