2.08 - Thanksgiving

It has now been two weeks since Effy gave birth, and she was already eager to get back to work. She had decided that Meredith's house was a little too small, so she had been staying with Alex, since he had a spare room in his apartment. She would've stayed with Vincenzo, but she thought it would be lonely while he was at work. 

"Alex, come on. I'm ready, see? I'll take the twins to the daycare, and I'll take it easy for today" Effy tries.

"I still think it's a bad idea. Most mothers take at least a year of maternity leave"

"I'm not most mothers. I'm ready for this Alex, please?" Effy gave Alex her best puppy dog eyes and he instantly caved.

"Fine. But don't go getting yourself stressed, okay? Just take it easy for a while" He smiles.

"I will" The girl smiles until she hears one of the twins crying.

"That's Aurora" The boy tells her.

"I know. She probably wants to be fed" Effy fed Aurora her bottle as Alex fed Cristian then the two left for work.

When the pair arrived at the hospital, Alex agreed to take the twins to daycare as Effy spotted her father at the front desk. "Remember, don't stress yourself out" Alex whispers to her before walking off with the twins.

"Papa, what are you doing here?"

"I just wanted to see you before your shift" Vincenzo smiles at his daughter.

"What are you doing here, Vin?" Bailey asks, approaching the two.

"I'm just here to see Elizabeth"

"Okay. Effy, don't take too long, we've got rounds soon"

"Okay, Dr Bailey" Effy smiles as Bailey leaves them alone.

"How are you? How are the twins?"

"They're good. You're not mad that I chose to stay with Alex, are you?" Effy asks.

"No, of course not. I respect your decision. Besides, I like Alex and I know he wouldn't let anything happen to you"

"Good. I just didn't want you to be mad"

"Don't worry, I'm not. But, I do have a proposition. You have to come over for dinner once a week. And you need to bring the twins and Alex"

Effy smiles, giggling slightly, "Deal"

"Go on. I'm sure Dr Bailey is waiting so you can start your rounds" Vin smiles, kissing his daughter on the head.

"Te amo, Papa"

"Te amo, Picollo"

After Effy walked away, Derek walked over to Vincenzo, "Vin, are you ready?"

"Yeah, I'm ready"

Work went slow that day, and the next day, and the next day, and before she knew it, Elizabeth was getting the twins ready for thanksgiving dinner, with Alex's help, of course.

"Are you sure you don't want to just stay home? I know the holidays overwhelm you" Alex asks, trying to get the girl to stay home.

"Alex, I've already told you. I'll be fine. I have Izzie, and Meredith and Cristina will be there too, Burke will probably be with Cristina, I'll be fine. Are you sure you don't wanna come? Izzie will want you there" She explains, putting on Christian's little boots.

"I'm not sure" The boy sighs as Aurora grips his finger.

"Tell you what. Get dressed. Do a quick study for your exam. Come over when you finish, okay?" She smiles before walking out of the room and down the stairs,
