2.07 - You Lost Effy?!

Effy had decided to leave Meredith alone all morning, knowing that she clearly needed to blow off some stream. So, instead, she stayed with George and Izzie.

She is still with them now, waiting at the nurse's station for Dr Bailey, Cristina waiting with them. All four knowing to stay clear of Meredith incase they say the wrong thing.

"Well we have to do something. Meredith's become like an exhibit" George complains and Cristina groans.

"He's right. She's like that one panda at the zoo that everyone just gawks at" Effy agrees.

"Please don't say that to her face. I think that panda died alone"

Cristina chuckles at Izzie's comment causing George to retaliate, "This could just as easily be you, if people knew about you and..." George stops himself and mouths the attendings name instead of saying it out loud.

"You take that back" The intern demands, growing frustrated.

"He's right, Tina" Effy shrugs. 

"Dottie, I thought you were on my side"

"I'm just saying we should do something to cheer her up" George intervenes.

"Don't worry about it" Izzie speaks.

"It's all under control" Cristina finishes.

"Wait, what do you guys have going on?" George asks but Effy shakes her head,

"Nothing"

"Where's Karev?" Bailey asks, walking over to the group.

"Probably off somewhere. Not kissing somebody" Izzie complains.

"Bella, I love you, but you gotta give it up" Effy speaks truthfully as George walks ahead with Bailey and the three girls stay a few feet behind with Meredith.

"Hey, so, after rounds, we have something to show you" Cristina tells her.

"Mer? Meredith can you hear us?" Izzie asks after noticing Meredith doesn't look like herself.

"She's not deaf, Iz, she's just zoning out a little" Effy explains, giggling.

"Well she looks weird"

"Well what did you expect? Derek didn't pick her, she's gone mental" Cristina says.

"Meredith, have you gone mental?"

"I have not gone mental" Meredith replies, answering Izzie's question.

"See, okay she's fine" Cristina says, excited,

"We have something to show you. So whatever you do, do not get assigned to a surgery this morning"

They all walk into an elevator, except for Meredith who stay outside for a while until Cristina goes out to get her.

Effy starts to breath a little heavier than before, given her newfound fear of elevators.

Izzie notices this and grabs her hand, squeezing it softly to let her know that she is there, and nothing will happen to her. She calms slightly but there is still that feeling in her gut that tells her something will go wrong. But it never does. And she makes it out of the elevator safe and sound. Just like Izzie and everyone else knew she would. Just like she did everyday.

In a patients room, an elderly woman, named Kimberly Griswold, is lying in her hospital bed. Her husband is rushing around, doing little things with her. The interns, Bailey and Burke are there too.

"Mrs ah Kimberly Griswold. History of heart disease and multiple surgeries. In for a beating heart quadruple CABG" Cristina explains as Alex walks in late.
