In the Shadows

With the last strike of my iron sword, the mighty foe was no more. The island shook violently and the dragon shone rays of light through its chest as it slowly rises and fades. An incredible sight to behold.

Free the end?

Why does it feel like there's still more than that though?

Orbs of xp came gushing towards me. I stood still, catching my breath. The island stopped shaking. Knowing that the battle was over I felt more empty than I was felt relief.

In the top of the dragon's fountain, there lies an egg. A notable trophy for a triumphant war. Below it however, a portal mysteriously opened that glowed with blue and green tints of light. That must be the portal back to the overworld.

I don't know for sure where it may lead but it's an option of escape whenever I am ready to leave.

I stood in the foot of the portal. Not sure weather or not to return just yet. Even though I wanted to go back, there was something calling me from beyond the void.

So I looked around as the last orb was about to be absorbed. I started roaming around at the pillars. Those ones caused me so much time to climb up. Wondering if it was solid or hollow, I mined a block.

I remembered something of a similar feeling back in the overworld. All three of us were building a huge underwater palace made mostly out of clay blocks. I have the task of painstakingly harvesting patches of them beside the riverbeds and placing in the foundations of our base. Sometimes falling down to my demise and respawning back at spawn because either Dream or Taurtis kept pranking me by breaking my bed. I laugh to myself as I bask in those warm moments.

Looking back at those memories seem to make me want to go back now more than ever. But my determination to find something more out of this dimention was exceedingly far greater.

The void was eerily silent. I could hear my own breath if it wasn't for the mining sounds I'm making into breaking a piece of the obsidian block on the dark, towering pillars.

Finally after 8 minutes of mining, I managed to get a piece.

It wasn't as hollow as I thought it was. I stashed it in my inventory for keepsake.

Sighing, I went back and knelt down near the portal. Seeing the swirling motion of the overworld colors mixing with the essence of the void itself made me contemplate weather or not I should even go back soon. I decided to lie my head down beside it for a while.

Then, I heard silent whispers of a language that I am not too familliar with. The voices were increasingly growing as it went charging towards me.

I took out my sword, knelt back up and said, "Who's there?" Only aiming to nothingness.

The whispers suddenly stoped dead on its tracks.

Then, something hit me out of nowhere. I was unable to steady my balance and I was pushed back in the portal.

The last thing I remember hearing was.

"Welcome Home, Diamond."

Then my vision went black.

The next thing I knew, I woke up at spawn. Smooth blades of glass brushed my body as I lie.

It took me a good amount of time to realize that my surroundings seem  to be a bit darker. The sun was high up in the sky but it looks like was almost dawn for me. When I got up, I felt sudden chills down my spine as I suddenly phased through someone passing me. I fell to the ground but it didn't make a thud.
