A young woman who was wearing a black coat, white plain tee tucked into a pair dark gray trousers- came alone to the bar and was drinking her 23rd martini. She was wearing a black ball cap and that hid most of her features well. Ken was mesmerized by her mysterious beauty.
Ken, who was sitting on the stool beside her was worried if the woman with the pretty side profile would even make it back to her home alive.
"Excuse me." Ken called out as he turned to look at her.
The young woman looked up at him, her cheeks were stained of tears. Ken's breath hitched as he could see the young woman's beautiful face clearly- he saw her side profile earlier and knew that she wasn't bad looking but he didn't expect her to be so beautiful. His chest tightened at the sight of her.
She was so beautiful and elegant that she looked like a princess! Even when she was crying, she looked absolutely breathtaking. His heart was thumping really fast and loud- he reckons that even the beautiful could hear it. He was so attracted to her.
"Can I help you?" she asked. Her voice was very soft and soothing- it sounded sweet as well. She wiped her nose with her handkerchief.
"I think I'm the one who needs to help you." he said. "I couldn't help but notice that you're alone and you've already finished a lot of drinks and you look like you've been crying. Do you want to share some of your burdens with me?"
She rolled her lips inwardly, her dimples on both sides showing. She was embarrassed but also felt moved.
"Thank you." she said, smiling at him softly. "I must've been a nuisance to you."
"So, why is a beautiful girl like you crying?" he asked. He could think of a few reasons why a girl like her could be crying but he wanted to hear it straight from her. Her voice was so sweet and soothing that he wanted her to talk to him.
Him being upset about his mother constantly asking him to get married and have him give her grandchildren was stressing him out that he wanted to take this woman home and talk to him all night until he slept.
She pressed her trembling lips together and started crying silently again. "I want to get married and have beautiful babies. I want to be a really doting wife to a husband! I want to fall in love. Why is the world so cruel?"
He was surprised, "Did you break up with your boyfriend?"
She shook her head and looked down, crying as she gulped down her long island iced tea, she was pouting, "No, I wish I had one."
He wanted to kiss her right then and there! She was too adorable for her own good.
"Then, why are you troubled over getting married then?"
She looked at him. Even if she was drunk, she just couldn't say the real reason.
"Let's just say that I'm destined to not have a happy life." she said bitterly. "Rum and Cola, please."
She looked at him, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have bothered you."
He shook his head, "No! Don't say that. I should hail you a cab."
"You're nice." she said, gulping down her last drink and couldn't help but looked pained. She gave the bartender her card and a tip. "Thank you."
Ken walked with her outside. "So, what's your name?"
She looked at him, "How impolite of me." she scolded herself. "I'm Kaia Bello. Nice to meet you."
"I'm Ken Creed." he replied giving her a light smile. She smiled at him and a Rolls Royce stopped in front of them.
She stiffened when she heard a car speed up.
"Go." she said to Ken. She ran and looked at the speeding car who had a men wearing masks and holding out guns and started firing crazily at her.
"How did they find me so fast?" She muttered to herself while she hid in an alley to prepare herself as she brought out a gun from her suit. She bent down as she ran up and aimed for the car's wheels.
The car went out of control and crashed into a pole breaking the car in half.
Ken who was in his Rolls Royce was stunned and also turned on by seeing an elegant looking young woman like Kaia could be such a badass.
He pulled down his window, "Kaia! Come in here!"
Kaia looked at him, confused. "The normal reaction is for you to want to stay away from me."
"Come in here." he repeated.
Kaia obliged and went inside his car. He looked at her- trying to look if she had any wounds.
"Where do you live? I'll send you off." Ken asked.
Kaia just looked at him contemplating if she should answer honestly but for some reason, she felt lighthearted towards Ken.
"You can drop me off anywhere." she said.
He narrowed his eyes at her, "I'm not going to just leave you anywhere."
She avoided looking at him, embarrassed. "I don't have anywhere to go."
She could feel a lump in her throat and tears were threatening to fall. She was happy that she was wearing a cap.
"Ben, drive to the condo." Ken ordered.
The ride to Ken's condominium was quiet. Kaia was thankful but also annoyed at how the silence was killing her.
"Why do I feel like I'm going to get scolded?" she said to herself, looking down at her hands, pursing her lips.
Ken bit back a smile at how cute she was, "I just thought that you'd be comfortable to talk when we get there."
"So, where are you from?" he asked.
"S Nation." she said as she took off her cap.
He looked surprised, "That explains."
She tilted her head, confused. She was partly Asian, Spanish, and Italian.
"If you're from this city, I would've seen you before- you're too beautiful to not notice."
Kaia blushed furiously. "That was smooth." she commented shyly.
Ken chuckled. For someone who was badass, she was really cute. The car stopped at the parking lot.
"Mr. Creed, we're here." Ken's driver, Ben said.
Kaia smiled at the driver before getting off with Ken. They went to the elevator and it was the first time Ken saw Kaia properly. She didn't have a hint of makeup and yet she looked really radiant and stunning.
He was feeling troubled since she looked really young.
"Kaia, how old are you?" he asked. Don't say that you're a teenager! was what he kept chanting in his head.
"I'm turning 26 in November." she replied.
He was surprised and also relieved. She has such a baby face that he would believe her if she said that she was a high school student.
"And you?" she asked.
"I just turned 31." he replied, smiling at her.
Kaia's heart was thumping loudly in her chest as she saw his smile. She now noticed how gorgeous this man really was. He was handsome! For someone turning 31 this year, he looked younger than his age.
"So, fancy telling me why someone tried to kill you?"
She looked at him, "Will you believe me if I tell you?"
"Try me." he said.
"I escaped from S Nation because my relatives were trying to get rid of me." she said truthfully.
