She found him! She knew it wouldn't be hard. He'd left the pathfinder, and he wanted to come back now! He could train, and since Gisela had already found him, he'd have to stay!

He knew his mom would find him anyway, and anywhere, and he couldn't hide and- The important part was, he was coming home!

Once they'd reached Havenfield, she strangle-hugged him as tight as she possibly could. She was right; he did come back.

She hugged him even tighter as she remembered how horribly overwhelming her feelings were for him, and let go.

What she didn't notice earlier was that he had started having a coughing fit- and he was crouched on the ground, retching and hacking and-

Elwin came up behind her and gaped. "Oh my goodness, is he okay?" "Keefe! Wake up, please wake up!"

She clamped her hand over her mouth in horror. It had to be like last time. What happened? She'd hugged him, and he started... Did her feelings... what if she killed Keefe?

"Is he okay? Oh my gosh..." "He'll be fine. I think he needs a detox, like you did when you first came. It has been a couple weeks since he... And he might not be used to the lack of pollution... and..."

"...I must have overwhelmed him... with..." "Sophie. It's okay. It's not your fault, I promise. I don't know what it is, but I know it's not you." "How?" "I already checked."

Of course it was so likely that it was the first thing Elwin thought could have happened...

"Please take him to the Healing Center. I have to talk to Fitz." She hated to leave, but she needed to tell everyone he was back in the Lost Cities. Back home.

Unconscious... but that didn't matter, right?
