Keefe woke up on the roof of a building, temporarily forgetting where he was. Oh. Right. Italy.
Suddenly, off the side of the building, he saw a bright blue flash of light he could recognize anywhere.
"She's actually here?!"
He looked over the side of the building. There was no mistaking it— Sophie Foster was in the Forbidden Cities.
Looking for one person that definitely didn't want to be found.
And, as he was watching his favorite girl in the world, suddenly, he fell. Off the building. Right into Foster's unsuspecting path.
"Keefe!" "Sophie?! What are you doing he-" Keefe almost crashed onto the ground before he levitated right in front of her face. He got out another piece of paper. 'How did you find me?' "You left the pathfinder on the same facet. It wasn't really that hard." She laughed. Her sweet, perfect laugh, the one that he always wanted to make jokes for.
'I guess that's fair. Wish there was a leapmaster that took you to the Forbidden Cities.' "Well, I'm glad we found you." 'We? And I'm not glad! Didn't you read the letter?' This was the first time he had been even slightly angry at Foster... "Hey, Keefe." Keefe's eyes widened and he smiled a bit. He waved, gesturing to Dex. And Elwin. And... Grady? That was new.
Sophie was still reading what he'd wrote. 'Didn't you read the letter?' It was like... the only person that had never gotten mad at her before had. And it wasn't good.
"Grady's... Grady's here. And Elwin, too." She was still processing that he didn't want to come back. And then Grady started talking. "Well, you seemed to be controlling it well. And I think Lady Gisela already found you." 'How did you-'
He was in the middle of writing when Dex dragged him into the light. "She's right behind you!"
