Memories

I had no idea what I was doing.

I was currently riding on a Shirshu on my way to find the Avatar with Iroh, Zuko and some chick we found bounty hunting.

This is what my life has come too? Hide and Seek extreme.

We had found Katara and Sokka, but I made sure to stay hidden. When I showed my face to them, I put my finger up against my mouth to keep them quiet. They both looked speechless. I didn't blame them that they were probably mad they helped a Fire Nation.

When Aang came to the village again, there was a big fight. Sokka and Katara were still paralysed and couldn't move so I dragged them out of harms way.

"Naoki! Wait" Karata called out. I stopped in my steps and turned to them again.

"Your Fire Nation?!" Sokka says, steam was practically coming out of his ears.

"yes, I am...I'm sorry" I say, looking to the ground.

"That's horrible, why are you on their side! They killed my mother, you on the side that killed my mother" Katara said, tears welling up in her eyes

"I'm terribly sorry that happened to your mother, but I didn't kill her. I'm not even sure what side to go on..." I say, fire bending a boulder away from Sokka's body.

"You. Can. Fire. Bend!?" Sokka says, he was like a kettle.

"Listen, I didn't decide where I was born, and I can change that. But I can tell you that I hope the Avatar wins the war, the Fire Nation believes that they are good, its is so clear that they aren't but still. I won't fight against the Avatar" I say, blocking a few stray rocks from hitting the two siblings. "I know that the Avatar is good and Fire Nation is bad, I know that"

"Naoki , you are still Fire nation, that doesn't change what you did to the rest of the world" Sokka says, huffing and looking away.

"What I did to the rest of the world? I didn't do anything Sokka, if I wanted, I could have killed you all when you helped me out, I could have joined the Fire Nation army, I could have done so much more evil stuff, but I saw how bad it was and stopped" I say, getting a little angry.

"I honestly can't believe we helped you, Naoki" Katara says, closing her eyes and looking down.

"I could literally kill you right now and I'm not, I'm helping you. I admit I have Fire Nation in my blood but that doesn't make who. I. Am" I say, gritting my teeth.

"It doesn't have to, being a Fire Nation is bad enough already, they hurt so many people and destroyed homes" Sokka says, furrowing his eyebrows in rage.

"Fire Nation did that, not me. Not once in my life have I ever raided a person or burnt someone innocent, I didn't decide to be born on a Fire Nation island, believe me if I could I would rather I was born anywhere else" I say, trying to keep my cool.

There was a heavy silence between the three of us.

"Then why don't you come with us?" Katara says, softly.

"What?" I say confused

"WHAT!?" Sokka says, l o u d l y.

"You could teach Aang fire bending and you would be on the side that wins the war, come with us" Katara says.

"I'm sorry, but I cant do that" I say, looking over at Zuko. "There are certain things I cant run away from"

"LOOK OUT!" Sokka yells.

I whip my head in the direction he was looking so fast, I was surprised I didn't get whiplash. But even that was too slow, the Shirshu that we were riding on, was going a little hayware, I blocked Sokka and Katara off with a fire wall, but I didn't get to save myself.
