Chapter 11 : Zoldyck Heads

CHESHIRE'S POV:

         Meeting the whole family was exceedingly pleasant. I've never really been this exasperated to meet a bunch  of people. I guess it's the fact that they are a high level and not just a fraud people who kept on saying that they are oh so strong and dangerous, but when you test them, they're obviously not. Oh, and of course, how could I ever forget the fact that I won't give up until I have Illumi as my dearest husband.

           The most thrilling talk was with the family head, Silva; and the Grandfather or former head, Zeno. They asked me about my motives; they are actually surprised to hear it since no one dared to infiltrate their home just for marriage. Also, the things that I have been doing seemed to piqued their interest since they heard that I met Kikyo and what happened earlier with the butlers. they know better than to ask me about too personal things though. They know that I won't answer those seriously. Truth to be told, I really won't answer those seriously, I might lie, I might joke or maybe just dodge the question. This is basically an interview or a "profiling of the intruder" as I call it. 

            Remember be careful of giving information to others. These people are dangerous; well, I'm dangerous too, but, it is better to be careful because every word you say might reveal something about you or your personality. Although I am planning to marry their son, It's better if they know less about me and my weaknesses. My brother too, although they already have a clue as to who I am to the "jester", It's better not to speak about it. I don't want my brother getting involved of my mess.

     "Do you remember the assassination of the bandits in a cave? The one that was assigned to Illumi?" I asked the men in front of me. "Honestly speaking, we have a lot of assassination assignments to which we have completed, so, I don't really have the intention of remembering such simple assignment. Care to enlighten us about it?" Zeno replied in his amused voice. "Of course; It is when Illumi went "missing" for a few weeks" said I. "Ahh, yes. So we're guessing that you are the little girl back then?" Zeno asked. "It is indeed I who helped Illumi."I replied to his question. "I am right then, you are the same Cheshire kid that played friendly with my son, and now you are claiming that you helped him" Silva interjected in his serious and obviously irritated tone. "I am. But gentlemen, I believe I certainly helped Illumi." said I, while smiling innocently at the two.

"How is it then? In what possible way did you helped my grandson then?" Zeno asked exasperatedly. I took a deep breath as I remember the most important part of my childhood like it was yesterday. "As embarrassing as it is, Illumi failed that mission in a way." I said in a teasing manner. I swear, Illumi will haunt me if he knew that I said this. "How so? The target was confirmed dead and I am certain that I taught my son to succeed every time." Silva was evidently losing his patience. "It seems that no one was accurately aware of the events? Gentlemen, if you would let me narrate the situation that day?"  

Zeno nodded granting me permission to continue with my words. "Believe the words that I say, for it is the truth of the events."

    "That cave was actually my brother and I's playground of sorts. We always mess with the bandits. That's when I decided to visit and give them a terror while my brother was away trying to find a potential dinner. But surprisingly, when I came there; the place was filled with blood and bodies; they we're skillfully killed. I'm know that the person who killed our playthings doesn't have any accomplice, the person did it all by themselves. More piles of bodies welcomed me as I explore deeper in the all too familiar dim-lighted cave. I soon came at a section where I discovered two person, and they are very much alive for they are fighting. It is the leader of the bandits and a kid. I just watched in the corner amused by their fight. The kid was with no doubt winning, the leader knows nen but still very weak so if the kid continues with all of his attacks, he'll be able to finish his massacre. That is until, the leader pulled out a gun. Please bear in mind that a gun is a rare weapon in those years, I don't blame the kid for being confused and quite terrified of it since he's clearly not familiar with it too. He don't know what to do but to stand there, I saw his hand shaking. The leader was about to pull the trigger on him when I interrupted; I killed the leader for the kid. When I got to him, he already passed out. I carried him out the cave, fed, cleaned, and healed him. Then as you call it, Mr. Zoldyck, I "played friendly with him. You already know the rest sir."

Silence was soon filled with laughter, it was Zeno. "HAHAHA, Illumi? being saved and carried by a woman? Truly amazing." he followed. Silva however, just sat there looking calm but clear irritated.

"Well, you came here for marriage aren't you? We might as well think about it." Silva said, I'm actually surprised to hear him say this. Especially they are the ones who took Illumi away from me. "You seemed confused, Miss Cheshire? To tell you straightforwardly, Illumi is already of age since a long time ago and this is an opportunity in our family to find an alliance with others or to find another valuable member to join. So yes, we are choosing a bride for him. I believe Silva already gave him an order to find a wife but it looks like he didn't took it seriously." said Zeno. "Indeed, there are some of options already, it was Kikyo who prepared it. They are all both from assassin families or influential people. They will enter an examination that we prepared so we will know who the right one is. That's all Miss Cheshire. You may rest in your quarters now." Silva explained.

I stood up and excused myself out of the room. I am expecting the Head butler to accompany me but he is not there. Instead it was Zeno. I just got out of the room! How did he slipped pass me and I didn't even noticed? He was there standing looking me at the eye. 

"Nothing to be surprised Cheshire. I just have something to tell you." he said. "And that is?" "I like you for my grandson, you are not like the other girls that Kikyo picked." "and that would mean?" I asked suspiciously. "I support you in this. You'll have to fight and pass the level of the other girls. Check your quarters, there's a hidden passage there, go through it and you'll soon find me. At 12:30 am sharp." he said. After that he walked away.

So this is like another Hunter Exam huh? It's just that, we have a different prize to get here. Illumi Zoldyck.
