Chapter 24: Wife's plea

CHESHIRE'S POV: 

                 

           I got to my new home, the manor, quite late that night. The servants all welcomed me home and prepared my room and my bath for me. If I were the one to decide, I would run to Illumi's room right now and, I don't know, talk to him maybe. As much as I want to break the rule again, it's late now and I assume that he is resting from his punishments; I'm tired anyways, might as well wait for tomorrow's events.

        Talking about rules and traditions, this rule that I speak of is quite normal and is done by most families before the wedding of two hearts. It is the rule that the groom must not see the bride before the wedding. Quite the normal tradition, is it not? The consequences for every broken rule is just a little over the edge in this family, though. That is why, if I dare to go and sneak in to my fiancé's room, another punishment will be waiting for me in one of the torture rooms. Well, I just accepted my first punishment in this family so I'm not really planning on adding another one to the barrel. 

And now, my beauty sleep waits for me.

CHESHIRE'S POV (reminiscence of events)

           The first person I saw when I am again, came face to face with the testing gates of the Manor, is the 'guard', Zebro. This truly does mean that Illumi came back on his own. Judging from the old man's features, he is not, in any way, harmed or punished. I'm thankful for that. As much as I love seeing pathetic people suffering, I don't like it when the innocent gets implicated on a problem that he or she is not in any part involved. Zebro smiled at me at I opened the testing gates.

         There stood waiting the Head butler and five other servants. They all bowed to me and filled me in for the events that happened when I left. I must say that nothing much of importance occurred while I am away foolishly finding someone. It's just the same deal with the family and the normal overly loud tantrums of the head mistress. I'm actually impressed that she even encouraged me to find Illumi on my own as she stated that she understands my point; she even said that she'll take care of my punishment. She's my mother-in-law indeed.

        Gotoh specifically escorted me back to my room and arranged my bath. after a long day of finding someone in the morning and getting a call in the non and a long travel in the afternoon to midnight; I am finally getting something to relax myself. Hey, did you know that most people creates and gets a lot of ideas with their shower and/or bath thoughts?

      I got out of the tub and rinsed myself in the shower. I chose to wear a high waisted jeans and just a black shirt. After I finished preparing myself, I got out of the bathroom. "Master Silva has a matter to announce to you, you are expected right now." Gotoh said outside my door. My god, this man really is something, has he been waiting outside of my door for me all along to finish cleaning myself so he can inform me this? They can seriously use the intercom, poor servants, exhausting themselves like this.

      I opened my door and see him standing there in utmost patience. He the led me in the main office of the Head Master where the family receives all of the missions. Silva sat in the middle looking through the pile of papers with tons of possible missions. He seemed consumed with his work, though we all know that he noticed my presence miles away. He then invited my to seat on the couch and wait for him as he finishes something at the moment. He placed his work on the table and he soon joined me. 

     "Are you aware of what you did?" he asked. "If you are pertaining to me leaving the manor before the marriage, then yes I am aware of it and the consequences of it." I answered. "Very well then. I am quite certain that Zeno thought you of these rules and traditions, yes?" "Yes, he did thought me about it. I am ready for the punishment and I know that when I entered this family, I am to be held accountable in every step of my actions." I said. "You are waiting for a punishment then, is that what you are trying to imply?" he asked again and this time, I just nodded in response.

     

        "Your punishment is reduced in view of the fact that my wife, Kikyo, objected and explained a woman's point in these kind of matter. I am a man and I don't know much of anything that a woman frets about, taking that into account, all I can do is to try and understand them for my wife and my daughter-in-law." he said. This might seem weird but for a second, I saw the tiniest smile I have ever seen in this man's stoic expression. 

    I didn't know what to respond so I stayed silent. " Yes, I tried to understand it, and I did. Though, I can't just avoid the fact that a rule is still broken, that punishment is still has been served." he said. "Served?" I asked. "Yes, since my wife claimed to be the one who encouraged you, she's the one who took the punishment." I must say that I am utterly moved by this, I never knew that Kikyo would ever comply to those extents. "Though, a part of a punishment will still be given to you." ... "And that is?" ... "Go to the Kitchen with Gotoh and prepare a meal for everyone in the family, the other servants will prepare the dining table for us." ... "But is it not way past dinner?" I asked confused about the time. " It is way past dinner, we all waited for you to get back home."

        I was confused for a moment but then I remembered one of their traditions is that the bride must learn how to prepare meals for the family. This will be tested on the dinner before the marriage. And for me, that is today. That's why they waited. 

       I was able to cook the best meal that I could do. And well, I had all the time that I need to do my research about these meals. This tradition totally slipped off of my mind that's why I was so surprised and didn't had the time to prepare beforehand. That is why I was forced once again to use my nen ability, I once again stopped the time to prepare and do my research. The exhaustion of the usage of my power is worth it, they all approved of the meal. Illumi however, was locked in his room so the servant's just brought him his meal.

To-morrow, I'll wait for to-morrow to see you, Illumi.

I got some time lately to write that is why I have been using most of my spare time writing as to not waste the chance to write more. Mistakes here are normal, whether they are grammatical or misspelled words. Still, I apologize for them so please, do just pardon them.
