"Thanks for walking me home tonight, Solomon."
The said male snickered, waving his hand in the brisk air that hung around the duo.
"You say this every time we go home. It's fine, really."
"I just like being polite. It's nice to have company on the way home." M/C smiled as they stared off into the distance. Cars brushed past the two, city lights glimmered like small stars and the dark night sky hung over them.
The two walked in a comfortable silence until they reached M/C's house. Solomon frowned deeply as he saw the door swing open in an instant.
"M/C? M/C? Where have you been!?" The friend that M/C lived with came rushing out of the house only to attack M/C in a bone-crushing hug. Solomon rolled his eyes as the two tumbled.
"You know where I've been... I've been at work." They eventually replied, gasping for breath as soon as their friend let them go.
M/C's friend ( who went by the name of Yui ) scoffed before turning towards Solomon. "Um... What's he doing here?"
"He kindly walked me home."
"Whatever. Come on, M/C, let's go."
The said person watched as Yui retreated back to the house.
"I'm sorry. I really have no idea what her problem is."
"It's fine," Mumbled Solomon, "Have a good night and I'll see you tomorrow."
"Yeah. See you tomorrow, Solomon."
The pair waved at each other before walking in opposite directions. M/C entered their house and Solomon exited the road.
The white haired male walked for a while in silence. He visibly shivered as the cold air clung to his skin forcefully. He was nowhere near home.
Now speeding up his steps, the male was extremely eager to get home as it was so cold out. He was only in his thin uniform that never kept him warm. He regretted not bringing a coat.
After about half an hour of walking, Solomon eventually arrived at his small apartment. He shared it with two people so it was quite tight in there, but it never really bothered the three.
The male hurried inside and shut the door behind him. He released a breath of relief before kicking his shoes off, embracing the warmth that instantly hugged him.
"Solomon, is that you?" He heard a voice call out from the kitchen. The said male chuckled.
"Yeah, it's me. Who else has a key to this place?"
Walking down the hallway, Solomon stopped and turned into the kitchen. There he saw a young boy with blonde hair and blue eyes sitting at a small table. He seemed to have some sort of food on a plate in front of him.
"Luke, why are you still up?"
The boy pouted. "Simeon said I could stay up for a bit longer. Plus, I'm not a kid!"
Solomon rose a brow. "Luke, you're 10."
"That's not young!"
"Sure, whatever you say."
"Oh!" Luke had a little glisten in his eyes, "How's M/C?"
Smiling, the other responded, "They're great."
"Tell them tomorrow I said hi."
"I will. Now hurry up and eat that, then get to bed."
Solomon exited the kitchen in order to find Simeon. The other male hadn't greeted him, which was weird. Of course, not that Solomon was expecting him to. No, definitely not.
"Simeon?" He called out and looked across the small living room. That's when he noticed a mop of black hair on the corner of the room.
"Oh! Solomon, you're home."
"Yes I am... Um... What are you doing?" Solomon walked closer to Simeon to see that he had a letter on his hands.
A letter? We never get letters?
"When did that get here?" Asked the white haired male as he gestured towards the crinkled letter Simeon was firmly holding.
"This morning. It's addressed to all of us. I'm sorry, I should have waited for you to get home but I had no idea when that would be."
Solomon shook his head before deciding to sit down next to Simeon. "It's fine, don't worry. What does the letter say?"
Simeon sighed. "Let's get Luke in here first... Luke!"
The said little boy came scurrying in as soon as his name was called. He glanced down at the two adults sat in the corner of the room. He frowned.
"Uh... What is it?"
"Come here," gestured Simeon, "There's a letter addressed to all of us."
"A letter?" Luke wondered as he waddled over, "When do we ever get letters?"
"We don't. However by the sounds of this one, it seems to be very important."
Luke gulped and sat down beside Solomon - the three now being in a line. Simeon placed the letter in the middle of the three so they were all able to see.
The letter read:
Dear Solomon, Simeon and Luke
I have sent this letter as there is an important situation that involves all of your help. I know that it is rare for me to send letters, but I could not risk sending this to you on my D.D.D
You may be wondering what this situation is. I'm afraid that I can't tell you... Yet. When you get down here, we shall explain it to you.
Me and my brother's are waiting for you. All three of you are to arrive by tomorrow evening as soon as you can.
Bye,
Lucifer
"A... A letter from Lucifer?" Simeon mumbled with wide eyes.
Solomon inhaled before exhaling. Whatever this situation was, he could tell that it was some risky business.
"I'm not going!" Luke suddenly snapped with narrowed eyes, "Going down to see the demons? Have they forgotten that I despise them?"
"Calm down, Luke... They need a favour from us. And we need to help."
"What do you think it could be?" Asked Simeon as his eyes searched for Solomon's.
"I... Have no idea." The male hesitated. "But uh... We should help them out."
Simeon looked unconvinced. However, he nodded with a sigh. Luke was still sulking.
"I'm not going down to the dev-"
"Be quiet. You're coming with us, and that's final." Solomon snapped as he stood up. His cold eyes were as sharp as daggers. Then, he exited the room without another word. Simeon and Luke were left there in a silence that was filled with astonishment. Solomon never gets angry like that. Especially not at Luke.
"W-What just happened...?" Luke stuttered.
"I have no idea..." Mumbled Simeon in response, "We best leave him alone... Maybe it's just been a rough day at work."
Luke sulked. "What's so rough about working at a library...? I bet he didn't even do anything!"
"Luke. You should go to sleep. We've got a very busy day tomorrow."
The said boy sighed with droopy eyes. After a minute or so, he gave in to Simeon's hard stare and stood up. He waved to the other before exiting the room.
Simeon leaned against the wall with a sigh. He had no idea what was going on, but one thing was for sure:
He knew it wasn't going to be good.
