Chapter 5: The Feast and the First day

"Let the feast begin"

As soon as those words are said a multitude of food and beverages appear on the table making all the first year's gawk at the sheer amount

Without wasting time the students dig in chatting happily away with friends and new house members

Suddenly a bunch of ghosts appear again wandering the halls and greeting the newer students what piques their interests though is them all going over to Raven and saying a few words while the masked Professor simply nods at them before returning to their previous conversation

Curious Harry turns to one of Rons brothers

"Say Percy who's that Talking to R- Professor Plague and Professor Quirrel?" Percy glances at the staff table for a moment before looking at Harry

"Oh That's Professor Snape head of Slytherins house" Harry looks over at Snape

"What's he teach?" Percy looks up from his food

"Potions but everyone knows it's the dark arts he fancys he's been after Quirrels job for years" Harry takes one more glance at the potions teacher before eating his food and later on going to his house common room

The Next Day

As Groggy as mornings can be most students arrive for breakfast at the great hall either still sleepy or wide awake the latter being for Harry and the former for Ron

Sitting down they look to the staff table to see Raven talking to McGonagall about who knows what but what confuses them is the Cup of Coffee in their hands especially when it looks like they drink it

"Ron did you just see what I saw or are we hallucinating?" Ron shakes their head as he stuffs more food in his mouth

"I did but still...i wonder why they don't take of the mask?" Harry shrugs before looking back at Raven who waves at them before heading out of the hall

With Raven

They don't make it two steps outside of the hall

"Erm...Professor?" Turning Raven sees one of the first years they sorted

"How can I help you Miss Bones?" Susan fumbles with her hands avoiding their gaze before looking up

"I wanted to say thank you for helping me with the sorting" Raven kneels down to their level

"Think nothing of it Miss bones I was simply doing my job and I would do it many times again now don't you have classes to attend?" Giving a small smile and nod she leaves leaving Raven who upon her fleeting figure walks off

"Professor!" Sighing a little Raven turns to see Harry and Ron jogging towards him Raven checks their pocket watch humming a little as the two boys reach them

"Aren't you two meant to be in class right now?" They both pant a little

"We...need a little help" Raven nods at Harry and gestures for them to continue

"We don't know where Transfiguration class is..." Raven stares for a moment

"Is that all? 'Sigh' perhaps I should transfigure one of you into a map? you're gonna be late...follow me" they nod and do as told following them to the class as Raven opens the door for them to enter

Raven nods to McGonagall in her animagus form as Ron sighs in relief

"Phew we made it can you imagine the look on McGonagall's face if we were late" Raven internally chuckles at the boys faces as McGonagall turns back into her normal form right in front of them and walks over to them

"That was bloody brilliant!" McGonagall looks at the redhead

"Well thank you for that assessment Mr Weasley perhaps it would be more useful if I were to transfigure Mr Potter and yourself into a pocket watch? That way one of you might be on time" Harry and Ron look at each other then back at McGonagall

"We got lost" McGonagall looks at Raven then them

"Then Perhaps a Map? Surely you don't need one to find your seats and before you do it is best for the two of you to know your way around the castle instead of going to Professor Plague here they should be at potions by now" they nod and do a slight wave to Raven who waves back before looking at McGonagall

"I shall be leaving now I leave you to your lesson until later Professor" McGonagall nods with a small smile as Raven leaves checking his pocket watch and sighing

'I'm late...'

Time skip - potions

The reason Raven was needed for potions was due to a prank the twins had pulled trashing the room and seeing as Snape was dealing with them Raven took it upon themselves to clean the room up for the firsts years lesson later (also because they knew Filch wouldn't do it ) and upon entering the room Raven had to stop the laugh coming from their throat

'Sev definitely isn't letting them off easily'

The room was covered in slime and a particular sign of a nickname for Snape was spread over the potion Masters desk in all honesty Raven was curious as to what they used to get the room like this

looking around Raven notes that it somehow got all over the books and ingredients as well causing a small sigh the twins were hilarious but it might prove beneficial for a chat about collateral damage...and maybe a tip or two about not getting caught

Raven snaps their fingers and upon doing so a moderately dressed house-elf appears bowing

"You summoned me, your eminence?" Raven nods

"I did and what did I say about that? Call me Raven Mizu" the elf nods

"I'm sorry Raven old habits I suppose" they look around the room

"did you return to your prankster phase?" Raven chuckles

"No this was done by the newest pranksters of the generation but onto topic I need you to go shopping" Mizu deadpans

"Oh goodie..." A glare from Raven makes them hold their hands up in moderate defence

"Don't worry it's not that difficult your just getting first year's potions books nothing more" Mizu visibly sighs in relief before nodding

"Consider it done" and with that they leave Raven immediately takes their coat off and looks around the room

'Let's get started'

Small-time skip

The cleaning itself wasn't difficult the use of magic and manual labour made Raven finish the job in a maximum of about 20 minutes and have time to place all the newly acquired books Mizu brought back perfectly and just as they did so the door opened and the first years poured into the class all looking at the Professor once they notice him

"Are you teaching us, professor?" Hermione says where no one else would say anything to them still in a trance of sorts

Raven shakes their head

"Not today Miss Granger I was just fixing a small problem that occurred here and on that note please take your seats, Professor Snape will be here in a moment" nodding she and the rest of the class do as told while Raven grabs their coat

The door slams open as Professor Snape walks in his cloak drifting behind him

"There will be no foolish wand-waving or silly incantations in this class" Snape says nothing and looks around the room before turning to Raven

"Thank you for your help Professor" Raven nods whilst the rest of the class stay silent

"Don't mention it, Professor I trust the issue was dealt with?" Snape nods

"The Twins shall be having detention with you after dinner please Re-educate them about common sense when they visit you" Raven nods

"Of course 'tips hat' Professor" Raven leaves the room with one thought in mind
