Chapter 7: The BIG Day!

~James’ POV.

            Sobrang lakas ng ulan ngayon, at traffic pa. ano ba yan, malalate ako! Bumili pa ako ng bouquet of flowers, nakalimutan kong magdala ng payong, kaya naulanan ako ng konti. Late na akong nakarating sa Golden Raw hall. Nagsimula na yung contest pagdating ko. Number 2 pala si Fretzie.

“Bakit black and white ang color niyo?” tanong ng host sa kanilang dalawa. Ang dami nilang fans na umiirit sa crowd.

“We chose black and white because like us, it’s simple and elegant.” Sabi ni Fretzie.

“That’s right. And our color is suitable at all other colors. Like us, we can socialize and fit on the society easily.” Sabi naman ni Sam.

“yes. And also, we chose white to be our major color because, we’re clean in thoughts, words and deed,” sabi ni Fretzie.

“And also, black resembles stone. We are like stone, very tough through obstacles.” Sabi naman ni Sam.

“and white, also represents paper, very useful yet light to people.” Sabi naman ni Fretzie. “ and lastly, black and white are neutral colors. It means that there’s no happiness in it. It means that every people in this world are waiting for someone to brighten up their world someday,”

“And that’s where we belong.” Sabay nilang sinabi. Oo, Fretzie, handa akong bigyan ka ng happiness.

Sobrang ganda ni Fretzie tonight. Natapos na ang introduction, sports modeling, talent portion, at it’s time for awarding. Nakalipas narin ng 2 oras. Nagkaroon si Fretzie at Sam ng awards na Mr. & Ms. Photogenic, Best Explanation, Best sports attire, Best in talent, at… nung iaannounce na ang winner ay biglang naghawak sila ng kamay. Nakakainis, putulin ko kaya kamay ng Sam na yan! At…

“Our, Mr. and Ms. Freshman this year are… from… the… Engineering Department! Congratulations!” sabi ng host. Sobrang natuwa sila Fretzie.

Dinner na. icocongrats ko ba siya? Papalapit na ako, pero biglang ang daming lumapit kay Fretzie. Uh. Maya na lang siguro. Nahihilo ako, di ko alam kung bakit, umupo muna ako para matanggal ang hilo ko. Tapos, ilang minutes pa ay open na ang dance floor, una ay slow dance, lumapit ako sa table nila Fretzie para i-ask siya magsayaw.

“Fretzie, can I have this dance?” tanong ko sa kanya. Pinilit siya ng mga kaibigan nya at mabuti ay pumayag siya. Nagsayaw kami sa gitna. Pero bakit nahihilo parin ako, feeling ko naikot yung mundo ko.

“James, okay ka lang?” tanong ni Fretzie sa akin. Napansin niya siguro ang weird ko.

“I’m fine.” Sabi ko. Then she touched my forehead.

“My lagnat ka James.” Sabi niya.

“ah, wait.” Kinuha ko yung flowers, then binigay ko sa kanya. “For you. Congrats.”

“thank you. Pero bakit ka may lagnat?” tanong niya.

“naulanan lang ako ng konti kanina.” Sabi ko.

“Bakit?” sabi nya.

“To buy your flowers.” Nanghihina na ako.

“umupo na nga tayo.” Feeling ko nagagalit na naman siya sakin, pero hinigit ko siya at sinabing,

“Please stay.” Then, we continued to dance.
