ASPEN

She's watching me intently through the flames of the fire, it's only separating us by a meter, or so. We're all gathered around the pit. After spending excruciating hours in the water we decided to start a bonfire, seeming as though it was getting dark and the sun was beginning to say it's last goodbyes, so the moon could make its entry.

After Ruby and I's little, uh, how should I put this? Encounter? I don't fucking know. She avoided me like the plague. I think I scared her to be frank.

That thought morphed a displeased frown to my face. I hope I didn't scare her...

I just don't like when people are so hellbent on getting to know me. She asks questions like she cares about me and wants to get to know me.

I can only muster up shitty responses anyways.

If you want a half decent answer from me you'll have to give me a second, three minutes tops. My mind is a train wreck, it takes a second to gather my thoughts.

That's why whenever she bombards me with questions that deserve an actual meaning, I don't answer fully.

It's not that I'm trying to annoy her, but that it's the first fucking thing that comes to mind, I can't help it.

I'm not used to people trying to get to know me other than the people that know me already. I've done things i'm not proud of and I don't want to ruin the image she's made for herself of me.

Although, I doubt that image could be any worse than what it might be if she got to know the real Aspen Clarke.

What the fuck does that even mean?

"It fucking bit me in my perfect round ass and I had a bump there for a week and a half!" Jacks sudden confession reeled me back into the conversation.

Ruby snickered. She sat beside Aven across from me while Gage and Jack flanked my sides

"Was there a reason to point out your so called perfect round ass?" Ruby questioned, amused.

The light that protruded from the fire lit up her face entirely, pointing out every detail as a ring light would.

Her freckles that were scattered across the bridge of her nose and cheeks. The beauty mark beside the corner of her mouth, her high cheekbones and full round lips. Her loose curls that were framing her face delicately. They were a mess and partly dry, but she looked good either way.

In some aspects I'd say she's a breath of fresh air.

"Yes. I had to make it known in case you didn't realize it through my swim shorts, babe." He said cheekily.
