As the rogue Clones of Clone Force 99, also known as the Bad Batch continue to adapt in an ever rapidly changing Galaxy, they accept work as mercenaries for the Trandoshan information broker Cid while also evading the Empire. One day in Cid's Parlor, the Bad Batch had just returned from a mission. Immediately, the Bad Batch were approached by Cid.

Cid: How did it go, boys?

Hunter: Not exactly a clean getaway, but we got the job done. Your...associate won't be having any trouble with the Empire anytime soon.

Cid: Good to hear. And here I thought this would be a repeat of the last job.

Echo: The last job had us doing deep into Black Sun territory. Of course it wasn't going to end well.

Cid: Well that don't matter now cause I have a new job for you.

As Cid said that, the Bad Batch were surprised at how quickly Cid had another job for them.

Hunter: Another job already?

Cid: In this line of work, there's always another job. Now I suggest you boys listen up cause this one's an odd one. An associate of mine came to me with a request. He specializes in priceless artifacts. He wants me to find this.

Cid then pulls up a holoprojection of a sword. It was a one-handed sword with a wide, double-edged and slightly leaf-shaped blade. It has a round cross-guard with a groove in it, and a spherical pommel, both made of a dark gray metal.

Hunter: What exactly are we looking at?

Cid: Beats me, Bandana. But whatever that thing is, this client wants it bad.

Hunter: Does this look familiar to you, Tech?

Tech: This description of this artifact doesn't match any known artifacts.

It soon became clear that whatever this weapon was, it was unknown in origin.

Hunter: Where exactly is this mystery artifact?

Cid: My client tracked the artifact down in a backwater system out on the fringes of Wild Space. It's pretty remote so you don't have to worry about any Imperial entanglement. Here are the coordinates, boys. Now go get that sword.

With that, the Bad Batch began preparing for their mission. As they loaded their equipment onto the Havoc Marauder, Omega greeted them.

Omega: Where to next?

Hunter: Cid wants us to go to some backwater system deep in the fringes of Wild Space to grab an ancient sword.

Wrecker: This ought to be a walk in the park! I hope we get to blow something up!

Tech: Demolitions would be counterproductive to the job at hand. We're not trying to blow the sword up.

Omega: Will it be dangerous?

Tech: Wild Space is mostly unexplored. Based on the coordinates Cid has given us, this system is pretty remote with only a few other systems with it. This particular system only has one Moon and one Sun.

Hunter: It may be remote, but that doesn't mean there's no danger. A system that remote most likely has it's own dangers.

Omega: I'm ready to do my part!

Omega's eagerness to help was still a new concept for the Bad Batch to process. Despite her young age, Omega was more than willing to help with the Bad Batch on their mission.

Hunter: Let's get going.

With that, the Bad Batch and Omega boarded the Havoc Marauder and took off. Tech then sets a course to the planet Cid told them about. As the Havoc Marauder jumped into Hyperspace, Hunter spoke with Tech.

Hunter: What do you know about this planet, Tech?

Tech: Very little, I'm afraid. The only information I have on this planet are the fact that it has only one Sun and Moon. Everything else is a mystery. Population. Geography. Culture. Planetary movements. All of that and more are a mystery.

Hunter: So you're telling me that we're basically walking in blind?

Tech: That is exactly what we would be doing. The remoteness of the planet and the lack of information about it would perfectly explain why there is no record on the artifact we're meant to recover.

As Tech said this, he glanced over to Omega who was interacting with Wrecker. Ever since she joined up with the Bad Batch, Hunter became protective of her for reasons he doesn't quite yet know. Meanwhile, Wrecker was finishing telling Omega the story about the Bad Batch's mission on Anaxes.

Wrecker: And then I got to blow up the entire stinking fleet! It was the happiest moment of my life!

Hunter: Wrecker, mind if I talk to Omega in private?

Wrecker: I was just finished telling Omega about our operation on Anaxes! I'll go check on the explosives.

Wrecker then gave Hunter and Omega privacy as Hunter began speaking to Omega.

Hunter: You didn't have to come with us, you know.

Omega: I don't want to be left out. I'm part of this squad.

Hunter: I know you are, but this mission could be dangerous. I'm just looking out for you.

Omega: I know you're only looking out for me, but I want to help. I don't want to be helpless.

It was clear to Hunter that Omega wanted to help the Bad Batch. Their encounters with the Empire and various bounty hunters proved that Omega was something special. With that, Hunter reassured her that she was still a part of the team. With that, the Bad Batch and Omega prepared themselves for the mission to the unknown system on the fringes of Wild Space to retrieve the ancient sword for Cid. Little did they know was that they would soon step into a larger and stranger world.
