"Who was your first boyfriend?" 

What was this? Twenty-questions?? She wanted to kick herself, but she couldn't exactly do that... unfortunately. Her friend was laying on her lap and for the past half-hour, Jimin and her bandmates were waiting for the stage to be set. And probably for another half-hour, they will be doing the same thing.

While Jimin was regretting everything, Minjeong couldn't deny the 'loaded-ness' of that question. She wasn't completely oblivious, maybe just unsure. Their back and forth friendship wasn't the most obvious thing to figure out, and that wasn't helpful in her mission to figure out her friend's feelings. Or even if they could reciprocate the same thing.

"Why do you ask?" 

"Just curiosity, of course." 

"Well, I haven't had a boyfriend before. My parents would never allow me to go outside much less have one. You?"

"Nothing at all? Not even a date?"

"Hey, answer my question first! Then ask your own," she remarked. Jimin could just see the smirk growing on her friend's face without even having to look.

"Fine, um... there was someone."

"OOOOHH!" She ignored her other members' yelps and continued.

"It was before I became a trainee, but then we had to break up because of company policy. It was just a short term thing."

The whole time Minjeong was staring at her phone while speaking to her, but this time she looked up. Her eyes contradicted the sweet tone that's always in her voice. 

"What's his name?"

Minsun. Kang Seunghee, but that doesn't make it sound anymore 'dude' like. Jimin never said she liked girls though she also never said likewise for guys. And Minsun sounds too feminine to ever playoff as the high school sweetheart that would fit her bandmate's criteria. 

"Um..."

"Get ready! Rehersal starts in 10," their manager's voice butted in. If you could hear what was inside Aespa leader's head it would be 'thank you god'.

Minjeong needed an answer. Not that she was desperate for love, it's just there was still a heavy want weighing her down. Sometimes you want to hug someone, but not in the friend kind of way. Cuddle with that special person, but not in the way that is 'besties for life #platonic soulmates'. The way that is warm nights and being able to just smile at each other to know they'd hold you forever. Was that too hard?

Apparently so because staring at her leader every practice was not enough to give her even a clue if they could be that. 

They could like each other. They could potentially be perfect for one another. But those damn 'what ifs' and the fact that Yu Jimin may like her is just an inference based on more baseless inferences. It was indeed too hard.
