I found it hard to believe but it was true, I spent hours finding out what superpowers I had. I made a list of all my superpowers by 5:30 at night I had

·      Freeze finger

·      Heat finger

·      Super speed

·      Super strength

·      Telekinesis

·      X-ray vision

·      Reverse and fast forward time

·      Imitate anyone’s voice

·      Disguise device

·      Super genius

It was a big list and it would be hard to tell Mom and Dad about my new superpowers. But my train of thought was interrupted by David who let himself into my room. “What are you dong Dorkwad?” he asked kicking everything that was in his way. I rolled my eyes “None of your business, now get out.” I say pointing to the door. “I’ll leave but only because I want to.” He said while heading toward the door. But when he reached the doorway he threw a basketball at me, my quick reflexes allowed me to catch the ball. “Nice try, let’s see how good you are.” I say. I throw the ball at David but he wasn’t quick enough to catch it and the ball hit him in the face.

I was smart enough to know it was best for me to start running and I was right because the minute David recovered from his injury he immediately started to chase me. He chased me down the stairs into the lounge room and when he was about to tackle me I used my telekinesis to lift David into the air. I was enjoying watching David flailing in the air trying to get down but my fun ended when I heard a confused “Claire?” behind me. I turn to see Mom and Dad looking at us with surprised looks on their faces, I knew that now was the time to tell them. “Claire, put your brother down!” Dad said with a firm tone. I took advantage of this “Alright.” I stop using my telekinesis and David suddenly and quickly falls to the ground. Dad looks at me sternly “You said to put him down, you didn’t say to put him down gently.” I say innocently. Dad’s look doesn’t change “Can you explain why David was floating in mid air?” He asks.

I walk to face all of them. “Mom, you remember when you gave me that candle so I could make a wish for my birthday?” Mom nods “Well I made a wish for something to make me special or important in my family and now I got superpowers.” I admitted. Mom came over to me “Claire, why would you wish for something like that? You could have wished for anything.” She gives me a small hug. “I didn’t want anything else, face it David hasn’t been nice to me the minute I was born and Dad doesn’t even know I exist.” I say not caring if I insulted them. Dad was not happy with what I said about him “I do know you exist Claire.” He insisted. “What’s my birthday?” I ask “February 16th.” Dad answered he seemed so sure he got it right. “November 6th.” I corrected. Dad was embarrassed that he proved my point exactly. David then decided to get in the topic of me having superpowers “The only superpower you have is being annoying.” He laughed. I used my heat finger and slightly burnt his ear as he screamed in pain. “Next time you insult me it’ll be your eye.” I threaten. David smartly decided to sit down and be quiet.

“Claire, do you not know how much responsibility superpowers are?” Mom asked concerned.  “I do, that’s why I’m not going to fight crime yet just play around with my superpowers just like any teenager would do.” I explain. Then to demonstrate I lift up the couch again but this time I lift it over my head and hold it with one hand and gently lower it to the ground. “There’s only one thing, you guys can’t tell anybody besides family about this, cause I’m not going have people come and complain about their problems and expect me to fix it.” I order. Just then Howie tumbled in from the back door “Howie! What were you doing in our backyard?” I asked freaked out. “I was returning your dad’s toolbox, Remember my dad borrowed it.” He answered defensively. “How much did you hear?” I asked worried. “Not much just about you having superpowers.” He answered. I throw my hands in the air in annoyance. “Was I not supposed to?” He asked stupidly. I glare at Howie “I can keep it a secret I promise, I mean I’d do anything for you Claire.” Howie said coming to me. “You promise you won’t tell anyone.” I ask with little hope. “I swear on my life.” Howie said putting his hand on his heart. “Good.” I say happy. “Can I have a hug?” Howie asks extending his arms out. “No.” I say putting his arms down. After one second Howie walked to the back door and said “I’m going to go home.”
