Suddenly a superhero

Big problems

Once we made it home there was a knock at the door, I run and open the door. Two men are at the door. Both are dressed in suits, probably in their thirties. "Hello young lady." The man on the left said, his voice was rough but kinda attractive. I roll my eyes "If you're selling something we aren't interested." I start to close the door but the man opened the door again. "Miss, we aren't selling anything. I'm officer Henry and this is officer John we're from the FBI, We want to talk to you." I look at David whose at the kitchen bench looking up from his phone at us, I look at the men "What do you want to talk about?" I say ready to close the door. Officer John spoke this time "Well, Claire we got a tip you have superpowers." My eyes widen at the mention of this, "Excuse me for a sec." I close the door, run to the kitchen bench to David "Did you tell them?" I whisper frustrated. David puts his phone down and looks at me defensively "No, I didn't tell them. I may be mean to you but I don't stoop that low."

I drag David to the door "If you ruin this I'm taking you down with me." I say then I casually open the door, "Hi, so listen what you heard is not true. I have no superpowers" I say trying to sound calm despite my heart pounding out of my chest. "Yeah, if she has superpowers I'm the king of England." David backs me up. The officers look at each other then back at us "Claire, our resources are never wrong." Officer Henry looked at me suspiciously. "They're wrong this time and you don't have proof I have superpowers." I say cocky. Officer Henry looks at officer John, he opens a laptop and a black and white video shows up. It was footage from last night, it showed me using my superpowers. After the video ended officer John closed the laptop. "That proof enough for you, if it weren't for your home security footage we never would have found you." Officer John said slyly. Both David and me were shocked "You looked at our security footage, that's an invasion of privacy!" I shout. "It's illegal!" David shouts.

The officers were not fazed "Not if you're with the federal government, now Claire you are coming with us." Officer John said grabbing my arm. I yank my arm out of his grip and back away, the officers advanced towards us. Before they could grab me I duck and use my freeze finger and the two men freeze. Still in shock I use telekinesis to move the frozen men to their car and I grab the car combining my strength and speed I push the car as far as I can from my house and unfreezing the two men.

Less than a second later I'm back at the house, David was at the front door waiting I walk past him "What was that about?" He asks watching me go back inside. "The government knows about my powers and wants me to do their job for them. You know this is one of the reasons I was considering not being a superhero, cause I don't want criminals swearing revenge on me and my family" I say locking the door behind me. David looks at me blankly "You know, you seem stressed." He says holding my shoulder. I look at him coldly, he takes his hand off my shoulder. "Should we tell Mom and Dad?" He asks in thought. I shrug "What's the point, they have no power over the government."

There was some knocking at the door, David goes to see who it is "If that is them I swear I will..."

"It's Howie." David interrupted and unlocking the door. Howie came in "Hey Claire, did I just see you push a car 82 miles per second?" I flop onto the couch hoping the whole day is a dream. 'I'm a superhero for one day and already people are after me."

Howie clearly didn't get what I meant because he asks "Is it romantically?" Both me and David roll our eyes "No." I reply. Howie smiled "Yes, I still have a chance."

David looks at him blankly "You never did." I wasn't the only one David abused but Howie only gets that treatment when it comes to his romantic feelings for me or for simply David's enjoyment. Either way Howie took it, the most important thing to him was he had a best friend who happened to be the brother of the girl he fell in love with when he first saw her.

Howie looks hurt but turns to me "I just came here to give you your super suit Claire." Handing me the outfit I hesitate and put it in my lap "What's the point? If I can't be a superhero of my own will I should just..." I stop, my mind has a flash. I see people cowering as a large man screams at them, without thinking I grab the suit in my lap. I hold the suit to my chest and snap my fingers, suddenly a flash of light and I'm wearing the red dress accompanied with a black belt and black gloves, black leggings and red boots. My eyes have black eye shadow making me unrecognizable. David and Howie stare at me but I walk past them once I'm outside I super speed to the local café.
