"She's dying."
That was all Chi Yun quietly (but enough for the three to hear him) muttered.
Mei Mei, Da Xiang, and Chao Xin gasped.
"We must go there now, before it is to late."
Da Xiang closed his emarald eyes. "Let's go."
They paid for their drinks and immidatly left for a cab. "The hospital." Chao Xin said to the driver, giving him the money. Within minutes, they were at hospital, rushing to Kara's room. A nurse stood in front of the door, looking down in what seemed to be fear and pain. Chi Yun and the others stopped in front of her.
"It is really hard when we have to experience this, but it is even more hard on the family and friends that go through such situations. But, hey, when it is their time to go to God's house, it is there time."
Chi Yun felt tears well up in his eyes, and so did the others. "Has she passed?"
The doctor shook her head and opened the door to the room with just a counter and glass windows. "Chi Yun put his face up to the glass. About three doctors swarmed the bed and Chi Yun could not see Kara. He remembered the time he last saw Kara: her colorless face and hair that had no more glow. Chi Yun did not even know exactly what Kara even had exactly.
Tears streamed down his face. One doctor gave a signal to the nurse to close the blinds, and she did. "I am sorry, but they ordered the blinds to be closed. They need no distractions." she said.
Chi Yun nodded in understanding.
About fifteen minutes later, all three doctors came out of the room.
"We did the best we could. We are sorry."
The doctors walked out with their heads bowed, the nurse following.Chi Yun rushed into the room, Mei Mei, Da Xiang, and Chao Xin staying back to let Chi Yun in alone.
Chi Yun walked in. He looked at her pale, lifeless face in grief.
He staggered over to the edge of the left side of the bed and knelt to the floor. He rested his head on the bed, weeping for his lost friend.
The only noise in the room was the sound of his sobs in the bed. The bed grew wet with tears as Chi Yun cried. He always denied it, but he knew in his heart that Kara was close to him; dear to him. He did not want her to go: anybody could tell. It was Kara that
"If-if I could just-"
"If I could just have one- one last memory with her."
"One last memory, that is all I wanted. One last memory to remember her for good."
"The one thing that I was telling myself was wrong was actually right. Not when, but if."
He fell silent.
