Chapter 20
The rest of the week was hard on Marie but it was worth it. Marie avoided Tristan and at the end of the week Noah was back to his happy, loving self. His past actions had worried Marie and she concluded it was the fear of losing her to Tristan that made him act out.
Now though, after days of reassuring, walks in the evenings and nights just dedicated to him, Noah finally relaxed and stopped doubting her. Her friends were a little peeved that she hadn’t spent the week around them much but it was needed.
There had been tons of games and activities that the pack had done daily and it was sad to say that the family reunion weeks were almost over. It was almost time for everybody to get back to their lives soon and leave Colorado Springs full of memories. Memories, those for some were good and for others were full of hurt.
Janelle hopped down the stairs and waltzed into the kitchen to find Noah reading the newspaper and drinking coffee.
“Hey angel, how’d you sleep?” he asked as he glanced up at her.
“Great, is there anything interesting?” Marie asked nodding to the newspaper whilst she poured some coffee.
“Not really, just a bunch of local gibberish. Like the annual tomato growing contest and the hottest salsa contest. Basically, just a whole lot of contests.” Noah walked over to Marie and hugged her from behind.
“What do you want to do today babe?” Marie shrugged and turned in his embrace.
“Want to hang out with our friends? We’ve been ditching them lately and Marissa already threatened to put hair dye in my shampoo.”
Noah chuckled and kissed her forehead. “Alright, let’s go see what they have planned.”
Noah and Marie walked into the game room and all their friends were in an intense game of monopoly. Amy was shouting at Jonathon whilst Marissa was threatening Ralph with death. Apparently Jonathon had slyly moved a house from Amy’s property to his and Ralph had been overcharging Marissa every time she landed on his property.
Other pack members were watching with amusement as they played other games scattered around the room. Noah pulled Marie on his lap and they both enjoyed the show their friends were putting on.
They finally settled down when Jonathon put another house on Amy’s property and Ralph gave Marissa one of his railroads. That was when they noticed Marie contently resting on Noah’s lap.
“About time you noticed!” Marie chuckled and the rest followed suit except for Marissa.
“Well it’s about time you come hang out with us! It’s always Noah, Noah, Noah!” Marissa snapped stopping the laughter.
“Im sorry Marissa.” Marie told her apologetically. “Noah and I hadn’t gotten the chance to spend alone time.”
“Alone time my ass! You’ve had two years of alone time. It’s time for our alone time.” Marissa crossed her arms and her eyes started to water. “You don’t love me anymore” she whispered and began to cry.
