Chapter 18
“You still want me?” Noah asked cautiously. After all he still wanted her and hearing how much pain she was in slightly helped his pain. She was feeling just as horrible as he was.
“Yes.” Marie whispered softly.
“Then I’ll be here for as long as you decide to have me. I love you so much.” Noah pulled her head roughly to his and kissed her deeply. He wasn’t going to give up on Marie and he said what she wanted to hear. But he was calling the shots now; she was never going to be out of site again. He was just going to continue acting the way he truly was before this whole incident. Seeing Marie kiss Tristan changed something in him and it slightly thrilled him.
Noah carried her outside and sat down on a log surrounding a fire. The pack was having a bonfire to warm the hearts of the mourners. At the end of the night Noah carried a sleeping Marie to their room and fell asleep.
The next morning Marie woke up really late to see her bed empty. Noah walked in minutes later with a tray of food. “Here you should eat.”
Marie’s groan filled the room. “Thanks but my stomach feels upset, I don’t think it’d be wise to eat something.”
“Well you haven’t been making wise decisions lately, eat.” Marie was shocked hearing his demanding voice and nodded. Noah placed the tray on her lap and walked into the bathroom. Marie quickly messed with her food to make it appear as if she was eating. She only took a drink of the orange juice so it could appease her dry throat.
“Are you feeling well enough to get changed and go to the pack dinner they’re having in memory of those who past?” Noah asked in a sweet voice as he walked back out.
“No, I feel sick and my foot hurts. You can go without me.” Marie’s face was pale and the dark circles under her eyes showed how truly tired she was.
“That’s fine angel. Stay and rest, I’ll see you when we get back tonight. I love you.” Noah replied truthfully at seeing she really was ill.
“I love you too.” She spoke against his lips.
Marie woke up hours later and looked at the bedside clock that read nine p.m. The house was quiet so Marie turned the TV on. The news reporter warned that there was a high chance of possibility of a flood with all the heavy rain outside.
Rain? Marie looked outside and saw water running in rivulets down her window. Marie sat up and decided to shower. She was feeling sticky from being in bed to long. Her body had healed up her wound and ridded her stomach of the previous queasiness.
Marie picked out a short cream night gown and walked into the bathroom. After she was done with her shower Marie picked up a book and sat down to read.
Thunder boomed outside and the gust of wind pounded on the windows. Marie cursed as the lights flickered above her bed. It was no use reading anymore.
Reaching for her silk robe, Marie wrapped it tight around her body, covering her skimpy night gown and made her ways downstairs. By the time her foot touched the last step, the lights powered off and the only noise you could hear was rain, thunder and the howling wind.
