Chapter 22
The ladies finally stepped through wearing classy designer dresses and carrying expensive purses. What unsettled Marie was Noah’s reaction. What the hell was going on?
The five ladies were immaculate and radiated wealth. Two of them were older ladies but not older than forty-five.
“Tristan! It is simply wonderful to see you after so long.” The lady had similar appearances and was indeed his mother as he stepped to give her a hug.
“Mother,” Tristan stepped out of the embrace, “What are you doing here?”
A sobbing sound tore my attention away and was shocked beyond belief. One of the younger girls was looking at Noah with wide eyes. Her beautiful grey eyes were full of tears and her even more beautiful face was trembling; she was gorgeous. Noah un-wrapped his arm from around my shoulder and closed the distance between them fast. The girl’s eyes glanced at me but soon her face was blocked as Noah smothered her in his hug and started raining kisses down on her face.
The other older looking lady stepped up to Noah and the girl, and patted Noah’s back. “I found her on my travels son.”
My mind was whirling and the sputtering of my heart was making me dizzy. What the heck is going on?!
“Is it you? Is it really you?” Noah asked franticly, not once pulling back from the hug. The girl was nodding and her own hands were grasping the back of Noah’s shirt tightly.
“Don’t I get a warm welcome?” One of the two remaining mystery girls spoke. I wasn’t interested in finding out who that was, after I was reaching my conclusions on these people. The lady that patted Noah on the back was obviously Darlene, Noah’s mother. I had never met her but had spoken to her on the phone numerous times. As for the girl that had my boyfriend clasping her, without any intentions of letting go, could only be one girl. The only girl that could steal him away from me in the blink of an eye; and I think she already had. Cristina.
“Well, I don’t know what you’re even doing here in the first place.” Tristan’s aggravated words made my sight leave the painful scene of re-encounter.
“Come on mate, are you not even the tiniest bit happy to see me?” The girl asked sadly.
This was turning into my own personal nightmare. I wanted desperately to wake up and even considered slapping myself to make sure this wasn’t real. All the lake water had gotten to my head and I was hallucinating. Yup, that’s it. That has to be it; God couldn’t smash the glued-back pieces of my heart anymore could he? This wasn’t fair!
Tristan chuckled and pulled the girl in for a hug.
“Noah,” A melodious voice whispered, “I missed you so much! You don’t know how long I’ve been looking for you!”
Noah nodded, “I know Cristina, and I missed you too but how? How are you alive?” Noah started to wipe away Cristina’s tears and pushed her hair behind her ears.
“It is a very long story. It was horrible, waking up to finding you gone with the rest of the class. I was stuck so long in Zimbabwe.” Cristina was speaking so fast and started sobbing. Noah pulled her to his chest where she continued crying.
