Chapter 4: Girl Talk

Kalea’s POV (SURPRISE MES AMIS!)

I hate him I really fucking do. He’s fucked up in the head, what’s his problem!? Who puts another person in a trash can these days!?

Mrs.Hopkins and I had watched Cinder and Crispin for quite sometime as they kept about five feet of distance between eachother and cried. It was a shock really, seeing Crispin weep in the presence of any other person excluding myself and Mrs.Hopkins. But there he was letting the tears fall down.

But back to that person I hate,

Jason. He’s an absolute asshole, nothing about him is kind!

    “No shit Kalea,”

I jumped and looked to my right to see Crispin holding back a smirk in the passenger seat of his car.

    “What?” I asked.

“Your brother’s an asshole and nothing about him is kind,” Crispin replied. The mere mention of Jason seemed to push his subconcious up against a wall and he fought against the shiver that ran through him.

“Sorry Crispin, didn’t realize I was saying it out loud,” I muttered my grip on his steering wheel growing tighter. He shrugged slightly and turned back to the passenger window watching the Maine scenery go by. I hate this state too, so secluded.

“Where are we going?” Crispin asked. I set my lips in a straight line eyeing the black Toyota Camry that had had it’s turn signal on for the last five miles. Stretching out the silence between us, knowing the answer to his question would induce a sudden uncontrollable panic in my friend.

“K-Kalea, where are we going?” he stuttered. The panic was setting in, cornering his beaten body and lunging towards his chest, teeth barred. I gave the carnevorous creature a final push towards him,

“I have to stop by my place and grab some stuff...” I whispered. The car got quiet and I turned the radio on to fill the silence but Crispin immediately shut it off.

    “Is he home?” He asked.

“Most likely, but don’t worry I won’t be long I promise,” I replied.  Crispin took a deep shaky breath and looked at me,

“Lock my doors okay? If they get to me I’m totally fucked,” he said. I could see my house rising up in the distance and sighed anxiously. I’d leave the keys in here with him so Jason had no chance to snatch them from me.

We pulled into the driveway and I heard Crispin slightly whimper. It hurt to do this to him but there were things I needed from the house.

Me and Crispin were do for a serious girl talk.

Ice cream,Fried Green Tomatoes, and Adele and P!nk songs, the whole nineyards.

I am nosy by the way, and Crispin didn’t like to talk.

I know I know I’m supposed to be his BEST friend...I’m his only friend and just started talking to him around the beginning of this year. So in all honesty I don’t know him very well.

I turned off the ignition and put the key down on Crispin’s lap, he kept his eyes on the front door cautiously. I eyed my brother’s truck parked right in front of us and I sighed again.

“I’ll be right back Crispin, I promise and then we’ll go to your place,” I said. Crispin nodded seeming distatched from the world.

I got out locking the doors and grabbing my backpack before entering my house,
