"He opens up my door,
And I get into his car,
And he says
'You look beautiful tonight,'
And I feel perfectly fine"

Later that day, around 7 pm, Al picked me up for a picnic date. He had a big truck, a shiny red, that he always used. We would go out to the beach off of Lake Michigan, and eat a picnic in the back of his truck.

I tell my mom that I'm going out with Al, and she tells me to be back by curfew and to have fun. When I was with Tobias, she would tell me anything to keep me from going; she didn't understand why I was with him. She loves Al though.

I walk outside in the late summer breeze and sit on the porch waiting for his big red truck to pull up.

I look across the street to Tobias's house.

In his room, on the second floor, I see him, pacing the room, running his hands through his hair. He looks frustrated, and deep in thought. He looks out the window at me, and my mouth twitches.

Before he can do anything, Al pulls up, and reaches across the seat to open my door.

I climb in, and put the seatbelt on.

"Hey." I huff.

"You look beautiful tonight." He tells me, glancing over at me as he pulls away and starts driving.

It takes about ten minutes for us to get to the beach. It's a silent ride, no talking, with the soft noise of the radio playing country. It was Al's favorite, while I preferred more Alternative stuff. Tobias liked it too.

We get out if the car and grab the blanket and basket from the backseat before going back behind to the be of the truck.

We sit chatting about classes, sports-- I liked football, but Al liked basketball-- and everything in between. It was nice, relaxing, until I felt a few raindrops on my hand as I was eating a sandwich.

"Al, is it supposed to rain?" I ask.

"Later tonight, I believe, why?" Just as he says that, a steady stream of rain pours down.

We quickly gather everything into the basket and put it and the blanket into the back seat.

Once again silent, we drive home.

"Sorry our date got cut short." Al says, right before I get out of the car.

"It's fine." is my reply.

"See you tomorrow?"

I nod, and kiss his cheek before hopping out of the car. I watch him drive away, turning the corner a few houses down.

As I turn to go inside, a hand grabs my wrist, yanking me into the bushes by the entrance to my driveway. I look up to find the kidnapper has rain droplets drenching his hair and electric blue eyes.
