Y/N sat in the backyard as she nervously waited for her parents. Only hours passed, yet for her, it felt like a lifetime.

Areum sat next to her and listened to the raindrops hitting the ground, holding Y/N's hand in her and rubbing circles on her palm. "It's raining heavily today," Areum said before she looked at Y/N who nodded slightly and lowered her head.

The smile had left her lips and eyes. She wasn't the joyful and happy Y/N anymore.

Areum sighed and looked at the sky, closing her eyes afterward. "Are you okay...?" She asked and heard Y/N sigh.

"I'm trying..."

"What are we going to do?" Areum asked and that made Y/N smile warmly at her. It was Y/N's problem but Areum thought of it as it was hers. She always did.

"I don't know..." Y/N looked at her hands and sighed once more. "Mom and dad are coming and... we'll figure out what to do... I guess..."

"Does Jay know?"

"N-no... he doesn't and I want it to stay this way." Y/N turned to look at Areum and slowly shook her head. "I don't think I want him to know..."

Areum looked at her friend with concern in her eyes.

"But Y/N... as much as I hate him right now, that's... that's his child."

Y/N sighed.

She knew it was cruel of her to keep Jay in the dark, but she had her reasons. She couldn't trust Jay anymore. She handed him her heart only for him to crush it without a second thought. After all the lies he told her... after he played with her feelings and broke her?

How could she trust him not to do the same with the baby?

How could she trust Jay to love their child and be there for it when he couldn't even love her, and instead broke her heart for a stupid bet?

It was better for him to not know, instead of him rejecting Y/N and the baby.

"I can't let him know... I can't trust him, Areum. And I doubt he would accept us... but I... you understand, right?"

Areum let out a long, low sigh, closing her eyes.

"I can't say anything about it, Y/N... but know that I'll always be by your side. Whatever choice you make, I hope you make a good one." She smiled.

There was a silence between the two as Areum held Y/N tight, comfortingly rubbing circles on his back, and letting him know that he wasn't alone in this mess.

"I'm going to be an amazing aunt!"

Y/N chuckled as her eyes began to water, her vision blurring, so she didn't say anything. Just let Areum hug her closer.

Areum would always be one of the most important persons in Y/N's life, and even if the baby didn't have their father present, they would have an adoring aunt that will love them with everything she has and would always protect them.

As both of them sat there, enjoying the cold weather, the sound of glass shattering made them flinch as they furrowed their eyebrows and quickly made their way inside.

Y/N rushed to the living room only for her to see her grandmother with wide, tearing eyes. She walked to her as worry was written all over her face.

"Grandma... what's wrong?" She asked, and before her grandmother could say anything, as Y/N turned to look at the TV, the answer she was looking for tore her heart into pieces as she widened her eyes and put a hand on her mouth, choking on her cries.

Areum stared at the TV in shock as she tried to say anything, but the words failed to come out from between her lips when a single tear fell down her cheeks.

"M-mom... dad..." Y/N cried out as she breathed heavily, the tears pouring down from her red eyes. Her grandmother hugged her tightly and cried with her as she kept staring at the TV, the words the reporter said haunting her.

A deadly plane crash. The plane was carrying citizens heading from Tokyo's airport to Seoul's when it crashed near Yangyang. The plane was attempting to land in poor weather conditions and broke into three pieces. No survivors are found yet...

. . .

The sky was grey, but not a light grey. It was dark and ominous. Rain poured down on them, splashing into puddles. Everyone was wearing black, no one spoke a word.

Y/N wasn't paying much attention though, drowning in her tears.

If only she didn't do such a reckless thing, her parents would have been alive. If only she hadn't met Jay, none of this would have happened.

If only... Those must be the saddest two words in the world.

Y/N watched as everyone's heads were down. Maybe it was them showing respect or maybe they were too afraid to look at what was coming. The coffins were pulled from the hearse by twelve strong men, but their weight could never match the heaviness of Y/N's heart as she stood there under the rain.

She held her grandmother's arm the whole time, seeking comfort. She tried her best to keep it together until they passed pictures of her parents to everyone, and that's when all the memories came flooding back like a tidal wave.

Their faces seemed so happy and alive and Y/N couldn't help but wonder what they looked like under that closed wooden box. She stared blankly at it hoping that a miracle would happen, that her parents would rise again and come back to the world, come back to her.

But nothing happened... they were gone.

It's crazy how things can change this fast, how people you love can suddenly be gone from your life... and when they go, a part of you goes with them too.

Not able to bear the pain anymore, Y/N dropped to the ground and cried her eyes out. "M-mom...! Dad... come b-back! no... please c-come back..."

Areum kneeled next to her before she pulled her tightly, softly stroking her hair. "It's gonna be o-okay... please-" As she was comforting Y/N, someone stood in front of them making her raise her head.

Her eyes widened as she furrowed her eyebrows. "What... what are you doing here?" She asked with a serious tone that made Y/N pull away from her and look at the person she hated the most at that moment.

Her breath caught at the sight of Jay standing in front of her with his umbrella over them. Y/N felt her body shiver and her hands started shaking as she struggled to stand up. Finally looking at him right in the eyes only to see how red they were. Was he crying?

"This is all your fault..." Y/N said as she kept staring at him with tearing eyes. Looking at him made her think about the child she was carrying. His child.

"I h-hate you... Jay..." She choked out the words as her cries got louder. "I r-regret meeting you so get out of my l-life!"

Jay lowered his head as the feelings of sadness, pain and guilt rushed through him. Tilting his head up, he looked at Y/N for one last time as the tears betrayed him and fell down his cheeks.

And then he was gone, walking away from her and out of her life.

Just like that.

And Y/N broke.
