Y/N closed her eyes as her heart was about to burst out of her chest, waiting for the car to hit her and end everything.
But instead of falling on the cold ground, she felt warm when strong arms embraced her tightly. Everything happened so fast that Y/N couldn't understand anything. Until she slowly opened her eyes and her heart skipped a beat.
Jay was still closing his eyes tightly as he held her body close to him. His face was so close to hers as her heavy breaths made him open his eyes.
His eyes widened when his eyes landed on her lips. They were shivering as her whole body was shaking too, and the only thing he could think of at that moment was to kiss her and tell her everything was okay.
But he didn't. Instead, he sat up and helped her sit on the ground as her eyes were full of tears. Gently placing his hand on her cheek, he looked at her with eyes full of worry.
"Are you okay? Are you hurt somewhere?" He asked and softly wiped the tears away from her cheek but she didn't reply.
She couldn't talk nor think about anything.
Y/N stared at him as more tears fell down her cheeks and her sobs got louder. Jay stared at her and before he could say anything, she sneaked her arms to his waist and hugged him so tightly as if he'd vanish away.
Still crying, she hid her face in his chest and it took him by surprise. "I'm s-sorry... I'm so sorry..." Y/N said as she closed her eyes and cried harder.
He didn't say anything, he couldn't. His heart was still beating so fast at the thought that he was about to lose his lover, forever. And now, the sight of her crying so hard tore his heart apart.
Just then, her hands dropped by both his sides and her body pressed to his, making him furrow his eyebrows and look at her.
"Y/N..." Jay called as he slightly shook her but when he turned her to him, Y/N was already unconscious and that's when he freaked out.
"Y/N... Y/N!"
But darkness already consumed her and Jay's calls kept unanswered.
. . .
"Mr. Park." The doctor called, making Jay stand up and rush to his side.
"Is she okay?" Jay asked as his heart beat so fast that he could hear his heartbeats. Thoughts roamed in his mind and he couldn't stop but feel anxious.
What if something happened to her?
"Yes, she's fine." The doctor smiled and Jay let out a sigh of relief. "The tests we did confirmed that nothing is wrong. She must have been so shocked, that's why she lost consciousness."
"Thank you so much." Jay bowed to him as the doctor placed a hand on his shoulder.
"She still needs to rest but she will most likely wake up soon, so you don't have to worry. You can go see her now." He said with the same professional smile before he turned around and walked away.
Jay sighed before he slowly opened the room's door and walked in, his eyes landing on her sleeping figure. He walked toward her with slow steps and sat down on the chair next to her bed.
She looked so fragile and vulnerable. It hurt him to see her like that, so lifeless.
"How do you always manage to make me worry about you...?" He asked with a sad smile plastered on his lips as he removed a strand of hair away from her face. He stared at her for a while, not able to look anywhere else.
She looked so peaceful and beautiful, and Jay couldn't help but sigh heavily.
Why do things always go wrong?
He couldn't forget how she looked at him with utter disgust and hate just hours ago, and how she believed that he'd do something as horrible as stalking her. And it hurt him to know that she thinks of him that lowly.
But why did she come back to find him? Did Junseok perhaps tell her that he spoke to him? But again, why did she tell him she was sorry?
Jay didn't realize he was holding Y/N's hand until she moved, making him quickly look at her. She slowly opened her eyes and looked around her before she turned to him with furrowed eyebrows.
"What happened?" Y/N said as she struggled to sit up, only to realize he was holding her hands. She didn't say anything, just looked at her hand in his before Jay cleared his throat and pulled it away.
"Are you okay? You fainted." He said as Y/N stared at him in a daze.
"Oh..." She said and looked around her. "So we're at the hospital..." Jay slowly nodded and she sighed, remembering what happened.
"You saved me..." She said, taking Jay by surprise. He didn't say anything and just scratched the back of his neck. "Thank you."
Jay looked at her before he noticed the tears in her eyes. "Why...?" He said and watched as she took a deep breath and wiped her cheeks.
"I'm sorry... for the things I said." She looked into his smile with a sad smile and sighed. "I'm sorry for accusing you of stalking me... I thought-"
"I know. You must think of me so lowly after all I did to you. I understand but... I'd never do such a thing to you, Y/N."
Her name rolled out of his lips, making her remember all the times they spent together five years ago. Those were the best memories she made along with him and his friends, only to turn out that everything was a lie and she was just a stupid bet.
He didn't stalk her... but he lied and hurt her, for the past five years.
Y/N felt herself getting angry but she decided not to say anything, and instead, she took a deep breath and looked away.
After some time, the doctor came back letting them know that everything was fine and she could go back home. After getting out of the hospital, Jay suggested driving her home as he opened the car's door for her. Not able to refuse, she just thanked him and got in.
There was an awkward silence as both of them didn't utter a single word. Jay was looking at the road before he turned his head, his eyes landing on the hand on her thigh.
Come to think of it, he never saw her wearing a ring before.
"Aren't you married?" He asked.
Y/N stared at him for a while, not able to answer. "I... it's not your business." She didn't really know why she answered him that way but she couldn't come up with anything other than what she said.
It took him by surprise, and before he knew it, he rolled his eyes and scoffed. "Then why not let your boyfriend or whatever drive you back home instead of bothering me?" Jealousy got the best of him and he didn't realize what he said until he turned and looked at her.
Y/N was looking at him in disbelief as her eyes brimmed with tears. "Stop the car." She looked away and said before taking off her seatbelt. "I said stop the car!"
Jay widened his eyes the moment she shouted and quickly stopped his car next to the sidewalk. Opening the door, Y/N got out before she slammed the door and left him there alone, guilt and regret eating him inside.
Why did he always have to hurt her like that?
His fingers went through his hair before he sighed in frustration. Opening his door, he got out and walked towards her. He wasn't going to let her go just like that, not this time.
As soon as he arrived next to her, he grabbed her arm and turned her to him, letting her land on his chest as he embraced her tightly. Y/N was about to push him away when he placed his head on her shoulder.
"I'm sorry..." He said and Y/N could hear him crying. "I'm sorry I keep hurting you but... I can't afford to lose you, Y/N." Before she knew it, her hands were placed on his back as he tightened his grip on her waist.
"I can't let you go so please, let me hold you... just like this."
