A sigh left his lips as he placed the file down, rubbing the bridge of his nose with his pointer finger and thumb. Taking off his glasses and leaning back in his chair, the warm light of a setting sun filled his otherwise cold office.

She was the longest living subject and she was sick. They couldn't continue with the threat of her just up and dying during a transfusion. Five quirkless children, and the youngest one is the only one left. It wasn't like they could just up and replace her either, not with how much of an anomaly she is. It would have been much easier if her snake of a father said she had her mothers quirk, then the commission could simply say they found potential in her and wanted to train her early, even if it was a bit of a stretch. It's not like they could have said they wanted to study her prodigy mind either seeing as with her 'quirk' that wouldn't really be a surprise.

So now they had a missing quirkless six year old in their care, one that just so happened to have a biological anomaly, the press and the heroes are searching for her and it didn't exactly help that most of the staff see themselves as such, and now he was put in charge to fix that. Many of the workers were morally gray for the greater good, if a child was being trained to be the next best hero that's going to save thousands of lives they wouldn't bat an eye when said child is in pain, that's just how training was. However for the few workers that weren't quirkisst assholes, most of them residing in the biological and welfare department, testing on a quirkless six year old is pushing it. Not to mention the kid is practically always smiling, even when she's crying, didn't help.

This wasn't even mentioning that some of the higher up people in the quirk analysis department want to replicate that abomination they found. They were practically salivating at the thought of getting their hands on some of the rejected kids from class 01 and 02 and trying to replicate whatever made that thing, with a few changes of course they would say, to make them the perfect hero they state with a smile. The worst part about that was that he didn't have any authority in that field, meaning he had no chance of ever telling them how much of a bad idea that is.

Placing his head on his desk table he could only think of one word.

"Fuck"

Kenzo couldn't move, ... well she could, but not well. She felt bad, her head felt heavy and her throat felt like it was on fire. Though Kenzo supposed it was all fine, Dr. Maroon had been by her side the entire time, keeping her steady when she threw up and providing her with lots of colorful blankets and pillows. Kenzo hoped she would be able to keep them when she got better, then perhaps she could make an even better pillow fort then before. They had destroyed her previous one and made sure she was always in bed.

Dr.Maroon didn't read her bedtime stories like her mother did, but that's fine! It's been forever since Kenzo could talk to someone for this long, even if her throat hurt a lot and Dr. Maroon never spoke back and just stared at her, it was fine, great even! Sometimes Kenzo would even get to hold her hand without Dr. Maroon flinching back!

It was a strange feeling, it wasn't lightning as much as it was a cold fire. Kenzo felt cold yet her skin felt like it was boiling. One of the things Dr.Maroon had listed down was something called urticaria, whatever that is. It was itchy and uncomfortable, Kenzo wanted to tear into her skin and strangle whatever was inside, and yet at the same time she just couldn't will herself to move.

It reminded Kenzo far too much of when she was dazed and couldn't control her body, something that Kenzo could only assume happened on the day she came here. Though instead of the smell of cinnamon Kenzo couldn't smell anything at all, it was hard to breathe, and instead of not being able to move even a twitch it felt like a thousand tiny spiders decided to crawl and kiss every part of her body.

KK#20520's reaction to the blood transfusion was normal in a cruel way, it was the way most body's would react when presented with unfamiliar blood cells, although it was a very belated reaction. It was the same reaction the other quirkless children had to the transfusion earlier on, it was also much faster and much more painful for them and was the main catalyst that resulted in their death. Though compared to how it affected the children's with quirks, the quirkless children's death was practically a blessing.

It took about twenty or so quirk diagnosed children to perish before they decided to test on the quirkless. Dr. Maroon could still remember the pain in their eyes as their quirk took them over, their pain, their thoughts as they found out they were going to die because something that they didn't have a choice in.

They're theories of why it took so long for KK's body to react, most had to do with her blood type being O-.
