"Well that promise sure lasted." I laughed shaking my head. "I still can't believe him." Connie crossed her arms. "I've always hated that little shit." Aspen rolled her eyes.
Right now we're getting on the bus to leave camp. It's been an eventful month. Adam never called. Well, he did once. This is how that went down if you're wondering:
"Hello?" I asked picking up the phone in my cabin. We've been in camp for about a week and its been pretty fun.
"Hey, Scarlett. It's Adam. We need to talk." He said sounding pretty serious. "That's never good is it." I joked hoping he wasn't being as serious as he sounded. "Yeah, uh. I wanna maybe take a break for the summer. I wanna focus on hockey-"
He didn't even get to finish. I hung up on him. This is my summer and I don't need him ruining it. I'll deal with it when I get back home.
-
I got a boyfriend at camp too. That wasn't really the plan but, oh well. This is what happened:
"Hey, I'm Cameron. My friends call me Cam." A boy with fluffy brown hair put his hand out for me to shake. "Well, I'm Scarlett. My friends call me...Scarlett."
"Nice to meet you. I've seen you play. You're a great player, y'know." He nodded sitting next to me. "Oh, I know." I joked making him laugh. "You're funny. And one of the only actual decent people here. Let's be friends."
"I'll think about." I joked with a shrug.
-
I also met these two awesome girls named Octavia and Viola:
"Hey, I'm Octavia, this Viola. We know Aspen. She told us about your breakup. We can help make him regret it so bad he'll be on his knees to get you back." Octavia raised her eyebrows holding up scissors.
"Literally begging." Viola smirked holding up a makeup bag.
Octavia gave me a hair cut, and put highlights to make my hair a bit lighter, making my hair look completely different, but a good different. Viola taught me all her makeup tricks. I'd look stupid if it wasn't for them if I'm being honest.
-
I've been in the national news paper too. The camp dean has connections and said I was such a good player that they wanted to come interview me. In the interview I mostly talked about being a female hockey player, and the things I've experienced because of that.
I think it's great I was able to talk about something that meant so much to me. Being a female hockey player was something me, Connie, and Aspen always talked about.
The reason we play is all because we each had someone tell us we'd never make it because we're females. That's how we all met, that's why we still play today.
My number one goal has always been to inspire girls that they can do whatever boys can. And being able to talk about that really helped. I've gotten two letters already saying that I've inspired them to do something that isn't normal for females to take part in.
But at camp I practiced a lot of hockey, played in a lot of games, and won best player in camp. Which is great for a person my age, especially a girl.
But we're going back home now. Where not everyone plays hockey, not everyone supports my idea of playing hockey, and where the boy who broke up with me is. Great.
-
I had to break up with Cameron before we left. He understood. It was more of a mutual thing. This is how it happened:
"Hey. I wanted to talk you." I smiled walking up to the boy. "Yeah, me too."
"You first?" We both asked at the same time making each other laugh. "Same time?" He asked raising his eyebrows. "Yeah."
"3,2...1"
"I wanna breakup." We said together. We both explained our reasonings and he told me maybe we can try again in the future. "I'd like that. Friends for now?"
"Friends for now." He repeated while hugging me.
-
And one more thing before I let you go. Adam Banks, is an asshole piece of shit liar.
Remember he said he wanted to break up to focus on hockey? Yeah that was a lie.
Averman called me and accidentally let it slip that Adam had dated multiple girls in a span of the month I've been gone. Focus on hockey my ass.
I don't care though. I'm officially over it...
is what I've been telling myself.
