I should've known that the vampires in this poxy little town wouldn't leave me alone. So when William and I arrived at the Mystic Grill and Damon Salvatore was sitting at the bar, I should've just left.
I didn't want him near me, and I most certainly didn't want him near William.
If he even tried to touch him, I'd rip his insides out and string him up to the ceiling fan.
So, as William ran over to a booth, I sent a silent command to my magic to surround the little cluster of chairs in an impenetrable barrier. If he thought that I would be an easy target, he was in for a hell of a surprise.
"Well, if it isn't the Wicked Witch Of The West... and her flying minion." I heard from behind me as I slid into behind the table. He was quick to notice us. I'll give him that, standing there with that cocky smirk plastered on his irritating face.
"You ever heard of personal space, Salvatore? Beat it." I bit out coldly, but it wasn't just Damon that noticed my chilly mood. William looked at me and then to Damon, who still hadn't moved. Unaware that he couldn't get any closer.
"Who are you?" William asked bluntly, looking the vampire up and down with as much sass a six year old could manage, and let me tell you, I taught him well.
"He's a supernatural pain in the ass; that's what he is," I answered before Damon could introduce himself, trying to keep his attention on me and away from my little brother.
"You know, it probably wouldn't be wise to have me as an enemy, just saying... I could make a far better friend." He murmured, his voice taking on a husky tone as his eyes locked onto mine, darkening with lust.
"Firstly, ew. Secondly, do you have any friends?" I snorted, screwing my face up as I picked up the menu, pretending to look it over in hopes that he'd take the hint and bugger off.
"Sonny, can I have-" William began but was quickly interrupted.
"Shut up, kid. The grown ups are talking... Why don't you find a babysitter,, and I'll show you just how friendly I can be?" Damon purred, but as William gave him the stink eye for interrupting, my anger flared.
"Vampires, you're all so arrogant. Hasn't history taught you not to mess with witches?" I retorted as my magic flared. Damon's face lost its sultry look and was replaced with one of intense suffering in an instant.
"I've dealt with witches before... s-still standing," Damon grunted out with effort, his hand clasped around a nearby chair, knuckles white, while the other pressed against his forehead in a sorry attempt to ease his pain.
A futile gesture.
"Perhaps you should pick up a book before picking a fight. I'm not just any witch; I'm a Levi. Show a little respect." My voice was cold, and my expression hard as I finally pulled my magic away from Damon's mind.
"What the hell was that?" The blue-eyed vampire demanded, glaring down at me as he continued to gasp for air.
"I don't have to answer your questions because you don't hold the power here. Now scram, we have ice cream to eat and people to avoid." I dismissed with a wave of my hand, turning towards William, who had been looking on with wide eyes. Eyes filled with amazement but no fear.
He knew I would never hurt him, just as he knew that I would do everything within my power to protect him.
He didn't see me as a freak.
"I don't like him." William muttered as I smiled at Matt, who was walking towards us with a grin of his own on that handsome face.
I liked Matt. He was always polite and made time for us Levi's. Plus, he was human, so he didn't pose a threat and often made me feel normal, despite being anything but. I don't know whether he was aware of the supernatural, I think Caroline compelled him, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised.
