Aidan's P.O.V.

"Come on! It's a green light! What other color are you waiting on, dipshit!" The Uber driver cursed at the car in front of us as they sat through a green light, despite the traffic was beginning to clear up. "I apologize for my language, sir," He said apologetically, looking at me through his mirror. "It's alright. I know what bad traffic is like. I live in LA, so I've seen worse traffic than this," I said, not at all offended by what he had said.

Everyone has their battle with road rage at least once in their life. I had yet to go through that. But in the meantime, I was sympathetic with this guy. He reached over to the radio, turning up the volume as the pop station started playing a new song. It was hard to resist the urge to sing under my breath, but as the song, Beautiful Mistakes by Maroon 5 started playing, I started singing softly to myself as I continued to stare out the window, praying and hoping that we would be moving fast again.

As time went on and traffic remained the same, I decided to pass the time and text Serena for a while, letting her know what the current situation was.

Serena

Aidan: Traffic is starting to pick up a little. I still might be a little late, though.

Serena: Don't stress it, spoop. We'll be seeing each other soon.

Aidan: I love how you're so positive even in some of the worst situations.

Serena: Hey, I learned from the best.

Aidan: Aww, shucks!

Aidan: So, I was thinking, maybe tonight we could eat our dinner out on the balcony. There's a ton of stars out tonight. Would you like that?

After a few minutes, I still didn't get a response. It was weird, and I started to wonder if Serena was okay. I tried calling her cell phone, but the phone kept on trilling, waiting for the other end to pick up. "Hi, this is Serena Waterbury. I'm not with my phone right now. But, please leave a message, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can," Her voicemail said, the line started beeping soon after. I hung up, thinking that maybe her phone died, so I decided to scroll through Instagram again, liking and responding to my friend's posts.

I went through at least a dozen photos and videos before I saw a video that caught my eye. The caption read, OMG, What just happened?! The image was all blurry, and it looked like it was taken at night, but as I put my airpods back in, I could hear a loud screeching noise, like someone was speeding down the road, and then there was a giant crash. The camera moved up, and I was shocked to see that a car had crashed into a concrete pillar. "What just happened? What the fuck is going on?" The girl in the video gasped as the camera started shaking and people started moving towards the crash site.

"Wait! That's Serena! That's Serena Waterbury!" Another person shouted. People started screaming, and that was when the video cut off, leaving my heart racing and my eyes wide as saucers. No, please tell me I was mistaken! I replayed the video again, hearing the impact, and sure enough, the other person said it was Serena, my Serena.

"I need to get out," I said to the driver as I unbuckled my seatbelt. "Sir, you can't get out in the middle of traffic! You're going to get yourself killed!" The driver protested, "I don't care! My girlfriend just got into a car crash! I NEED TO GO!" I shouted. He quickly reached over to the side panel and canceled the rest of the ride as I grabbed my stuff and jumped out of the car, having to run in front of many cars and trucks that continued to honk and tell me to get out of the way.

As I reached the sidewalk, I started running in the direction of Danforth Music Hall, which was four or five blocks away. I just hoped that I could get there in time before the police and ambulance arrived. My heart was racing a thousand miles an hour, and I could feel the adrenaline pumping through my veins. "Please be alive. Please be alive. Please be alive!" I whispered to myself, coming to an immediate stop when I saw the scene in front of me.

Serena's Uber was smashed against the pillar. The front totally caved in. Another car stood at least twenty feet away with minimal damage. This was no accident. The car couldn't have lost control and crashed. Someone had to have run her off the road, someone like Cameron and Eden. I ran towards Serena's car and checked to see if everyone inside was alright.

I reached in through the broken window of the driver's seat, trying to find a pulse, but the driver had none. He was already gone. Please be alive, Serena. I reached in, unlocking the door as the crowd gathered on the sidewalk, and started taking pictures of the incident as I checked Serena's pulse. Thankfully, she had one, but it was very faint, and it seemed to be fading away. She can't leave me like this. She promised she wouldn't! Blood covered her face, clothes, and hair, and there seemed to be a large gash on her head, causing her to bleed even more.

"Serena, your gonna be okay, I promise you, you're going to be fine," I whispered shakily to her, hoping that she would try to wake up, but she didn't. The sound of sirens came moments later, calling my attention, they stopped a few away from the scene, and EMTs rushed out of the back of the ambulance with a stretcher. They couldn't get to the driver because of the damage. But, they were able to get Serena out of the car and confirm she still had a pulse, which made me let out a sigh of relief.

But we weren't out of the woods yet.

"We need to get this girl to Mount Sinai stat! She's losing too much blood!" One of the EMTs stated. They quickly secured her onto the stretcher and rushed her towards the ambulance, with me trailing close behind. "Sir, you can't ride in the ambulance," A black-haired worker said as they loaded Serena inside. "Please, I have to. She's my girlfriend, and I need to be there for her," I pleaded. The woman looked at the stretcher for a moment before looking back at my pleading eyes.

After a brief second, she caved in, letting me inside the ambulance. As much as I wanted to kill the person who hit my girlfriend's car, I had to make sure Serena would be okay, and I would deal with them later. "Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!" I muttered to myself as I held Serena's hand, trying to be strong for her. The three people inside the back with me were trying to stop the bleeding from her head and constantly checking her heart rate.

"We're approaching Mount Sinai Medical. We're requesting a trauma team. We have a female, aged 17 with severe head trauma and possible internal bleeding," A male EMT said into his walkie-talkie as we made another turn, pulling into the emergency room of the hospital. Outside there was a trauma team waiting for us.

I never imagined Serena looking like that. It broke my heart to see her in so much pain. "Sir, please stay in here, okay? We'll take care of her," A nurse said before following the trauma team into the ER, leaving me in the waiting room alone and heartbroken.

A/n: This chapter was hard for me to write because it hits close to home. I've never been in a car accident before in my life. But, I do know family members and people who have gotten into accidents and got severely hurt. Please, if you're on the road, please don't drink, don't text, or be on your phone.  Just keep your eyes on the road, and overall, please stay safe.
