Her balanced wobbled and with every desperate attempt to grasp onto something, Elena Gilbert found herself falling. Her eyes tightened shut as she became paralysed with shock. Time became frozen and all she could do is wait for her body to slam onto the ground below. Fear was all she felt, no peace and it rattled through her body.

Then came the pain, it echoed throughout her body. It was sharp and felt like being stabbed a thousand times. She was gasping for air but couldn't seem to get any into her lungs. Her body was on fire with the pain, her bones surely shattered on impact.

And then darkness...
