Lucifer's request in and if itself wasn't hard to understand. 'Stay away from the stairwell'.

Something about it just didn't sit right with you. You were certain that you heard cries for help in the middle of the night, and Lucifer almost seemed too defensive when it came to the attic.

Curiosity had inevitably gotten the better of you. 'Curiosity killed the cat' Lucifer had warned. Well, he was right. God was he right.

Your body thudded slowly down every damn concrete step of the stairwell. It was slow and painful, but not enough to hurt you too much at the moment. It was torturous though, and he was doing this on purpose. He didn't want to kill you right away, of course. You knew he was waiting for the perfect time. He wanted to savor this.

The coarse tail around your neck tightened, and you tried desperately to pull and loosen it. "You're too weak to break free. Give it up," he mumbled from a few steps ahead of you.

"A.. After ev-everything I did for you-" you barely managed croaked out. "Shut up. You don't even know the half of it. You're pathetic," he scoffed.

Belphegor. The seventh born. The "human" who Lucifer locked away into the attic. The one you brought snacks to and had late night chats with to keep him company. The person you talked to about your days. The man who had lied to and deceived you.

After what felt like forever, the two of you had finally reached the bottom of the stairwell. You could hear the others in the living room, talking about some upcoming party. Considering the circumstances, you'd count yourself lucky to be alive for it.

Belphegor heard them too, and you could tell by the way he paused. Almost excitedly, he began walking in their direction. You were silently thanking the stars, hoping that they would be able to help you.

His steps slowed dramatically as he came to stand in the entryway of the living room. You couldn't see the others, but you heard a few gasps.

"H..Help, p-please- it's so hard.. to bre-" your words were stopped short as Belphegor held you up in the air with his tail. You began kicking as you choked. You clawed desperately at the tail wrapped around your neck, but it got you nowhere.

Everyone else in the room looked absolutely mortified. Their brother, who they thought was in the human world for who knows how long, was now standing in front of them fully ready to kill.

"Belphie...?" Beelzebub had stood up and taken a few steps towards his twin. His face quickly changed from shock to anger and worry as he took the situation in. "Belphegor what are you doing?! If you keep holding them like that, you're going to kill th-"

"That's kind of the whole point, Beel," Belphegor interrupted with a smile on his face. "Belphegor..." Lucifer stared at him with wide eyes. "Put them down this instant! They're going to di-"

"Again, my dear brother, that's the entire point. And I don't have to take orders from you any more," Belphegor raised his voice angrily. "You truly think after everything the humans have done that they even deserve a second chance?" Belphegor asked, glancing at Beelzebub.

"You're standing there holding their life in your hands! Is now really the time to be concerned with this? Let them go and we can talk about this!" Satan exclaimed as he now stood just behind Beelzebub.

"Humans themselves are the whole reason we lost Lilith! Or did all of you conveniently forget about her?" Belphegor was yelling now, and you were starting to see spots in your vision. Everyone was looking more uncomfortable and worried by the minute.

"Belphie, we can talk this out just please put them down," Asmodeus stepped closer to him, and Belphegor only held you higher in the air. "If you come a step closer, I'll kill them right here, right now," Belphegor warned, and Asmo stopped in his tracks.

"We all thought you were in the human realm... what the hell is going on?!" Mammon yelled angrily, "This ain't funny Belphegor!"

"Oh but it is," Belphegor chuckled, "and, 'in the human world' is such a funny way to say 'locked away in the attic', huh Lucifer?"

You looked over at Lucifer pleadingly, and he looked back at you with a conflicted look in his eyes. You felt your heart drop. He didn't know what to do any more than you did. Not that you could blame him much, considering people don't usually prepare to face their murderous brother when they wake up on any given Tuesday.

Belphegor threw you to the floor, and what little breath you had was knocked right out of you. Mammon ran over to you, and helped you sit up through your coughing fit. "Hey... hey! Don't you die on me dammit," he pleaded with tears in his eyes. Judging from Mammon's tone, you must have been in pretty bad shape.

The others look horrified, and Belphegor began laughing. "How are all of you are so taken by them? A mere human? How pitiful," he wiped a tear from the corner of his eye as his laughter died down.

"I've gotten what I've wanted out of this little episode. Lucifer, the look on your face is priceless. More than enough for me to end this game," Belphegor said decidedly, and stepped forward towards your body.

Mammon curled his body around yours, his demon form surfacing as he glared at Belphegor with a look of fire in his eyes.

"If this... really is all.. about her," you choked out weakly, "Lilith... didn't... she didn't die in the war," you whispered before having another coughing fit. "Excuse me?" Belphegor's fists tightened angrily.

"How did you know that she.." Lucifer stared at you with wide eyes. "Wait, Lucifer, are you saying it's true?" Leviathan asked. "But we saw what happened that day," Beelzebub said with a slight grimace.

"I don't understand, so Lilith is alive?" Satan questioned. "If she's alive then why haven't you said anything!" Asmodeus spoke up angrily.

"Okay and while we're asking questions, what do you mean 'locked in the attic'?" Leviathan butted in.

"Aye, aye! I understand that there's a lot happening right now but they're not in great shape over here," Mammon grumbled, and picked you up off of the floor gently. "We need to take care of them before it's too late. We can talk later, yeah?"  The concerned look on Mammon's face was the last thing you saw before your consciousness faded.
