As promised, Lucifer allowed you to return to the Devildom with them the next day.
Admittedly, that morning had been pretty hectic. No matter how hard you worked, you didn't feel as though you were getting anything done. Trying to pack an entire apartment in less than a day was a lot more stressful than you had anticipated.
Belphegor and Lucifer were great at getting things taken care of and put away. Mammon, on the other hand, was very easily distracted by anything and everything he was able to get his hands on.
Still, only half of your apartment had been packed in the end. Lucifer made the promise that whether they liked it or not, he would bring everyone back to get things packed up and moved out.
Your return was a huge surprise to the brothers, and they were all beyond excited to see you. Though they were a little less excited at the thought of moving your apartment, they were still thrilled to have you back.
Finally getting everything moved back into your old room was a welcome experience. It felt like coming home from a long vacation. Nothing in the room had been particularly dusty, and the blankets and pillows on your bed had even been messed up.
It didn't take much for Belphegor to crack and admit to sleeping in your room the entire time you were gone. He may have looked beyond embarrassed, but that just made the whole situation that much more endearing.
There wasn't much time to relax after you unpacked, though. Mostly everyone had enthusiastically agreed on throwing you a party in the upcoming week. It was planned to be at Diavolo's castle, and it was supposed to be a surprise. That was until one morning at breakfast when Mammon asked if you were excited for "your party".
That sent the whole table into a frenzy, of course, but it cooled off almost as soon as it had started. You were quick to assure them all that it was okay, and you didn't mind the surprise being spoiled.
As sweet as the sentiment of a surprise party was, having enough time to prepare and get ready was pretty exciting too.
All of that led up to now, where you were leaning on the railing of the ballroom's balcony as you overlooked the entire Devildom. The air was clear out here, and it gave you time to reflect on the twists and turns life had thrown your way in the last year.
Looking back on it, you realized you had ended up out here the last time they had an event at the castle. Except this time, it was just a bit less... life threatening.
Quiet footsteps came up behind you, and you didn't even have to look back to know exactly who it was. The gentle kiss that was placed on your head proved you right.
"You feeling okay?" Belphegor mirrored you as he leaned over the railing cautiously, a worried look on his face. "You kinda disappeared in there."
"I'm alright," you nodded with a smile on your face, happy just to see him. "Just taking everything in. A lot has happened and I'm still trying to get used to it all."
Belphegor gave you a sympathetic smile looked out over the Devildom with you. "Do you wanna talk about it? I'll always be here for you. You know that, right?"
"Of course," you smiled back. "And I'll always be here for you too."
The light pouring out from the ballroom was suddenly blocked, causing both of you to look in its direction.
Beelzebub stood in the balcony's doorway, but you could still see his knowing smile from here. "You two are cute," he added happily. Belphegor, who was too preoccupied with staring at you, jumped at the realization that his twin was now here.
"How long were you watching us? Did you seriously just stand there and stare without saying anything?!" Belphegor hissed, his cheeks reddening. Beelzebub's grin grew even bigger as he tried to hold in a laugh.
"I didn't want to bother you two. You were having a little moment, and I didn't want to feel like I was ruining it."
Although Belphegor let out a frustrated sigh, he seemed to look a little less agitated than he did a few seconds ago. He was never able to really stay mad at Beelzebub, after all.
Smile unwavering, Beelzebub continued. "Anyways, Diavolo wanted to make a toast in your honor. A bunch of the aristocrats were at the table with him. They looked kind of impatient, but I think they just want an excuse to drink the demonus Barbatos pulled from their private stash..."
"They always have liked their alcohol," Belphegor shook his head. "We'll be there in a second Beel." Responding with a satisfied nod, Beelzebub turned and went back into the ballroom. As soon as he was out of sight, you let out a quiet sigh. "Man, tonight's been so busy with-"
Belphegor's lips caught yours in a gentle kiss, effectively interrupting you. He tasted of blood raspberries, much like the ones you saw him steal off of the occasional cupcake throughout the evening. Pulling back ever so slightly, Belphegor smiled. "Sorry."
"You are so not sorry for that at all," you smiled back, giving him another quick kiss before fully pulling away. "I'm definitely not that sorry," he agreed proudly. "I haven't gotten to kiss you much tonight."
"Don't act like you haven't kissed me every time you think nobody's looking," you retorted as you turned your gaze to the Devildom's night sky.
"Things have been pretty busy since I've come back, but tonight's been even busier, hasn't it? I'm really thankful for all of the effort you guys put into this though. I mean, how many people are able to say that the seven rulers of the Devildom and the crown prince threw them a party?"
"That's an honor only you've experienced," Belphegor chuckled. "You're just cause for celebration around here. All of us think that way, not just me. I appreciate you the most though, so don't get that twisted." You just rolled your eyes at him, unable to hold back your laughter. "I wouldn't dream of if."
"Well, it sounds like everyone's waiting to talk to you. We probably should get back in there before they send Beel out again. I'll be right there with you though, so don't worry," Belphegor reassured you with a smile as he carefully laced his fingers with your own. "Even though I really wish I could have you to myself for a little while."
"We aren't working with limited time anymore, so you don't have to worry too much. I'm sure things will calm down eventually," you gave his hand a squeeze, smiling back at him. "We'll have time together, I promise."
"I love you so much," he smiled, happy with your answer. "As long as you promise we'll have time later, then I think I could handle sharing the time we have now for just a while longer."
"I love you too," you replied quietly as Belphegor pressed another gentle kiss to your forehead. "We should probably get going though. I don't want to make them wait on us too long. C'mon!"
The road ahead would be long, that much was certain. You knew in your heart that everything would be alright though. You had Belphegor now, after all. Even if the road was long, as long he was by your side, you wouldn't really mind the trip.
