You rolled over, and let out a frustrated sigh. This was the third time someone had knocked on your door in what felt like the last twenty seconds. You thought if you ignored them they'd go away, but they apparently didn't know how to take a hint. There was only one demon in this house that would be so persistent.
You checked your phone, and rolled your eyes after seeing it was just barely 7:30.
Normally this wouldn't be all that early to you. On the weekdays you would usually get up earlier than this to get ready to go to R.A.D.
Considering what time everyone got back to the House of Lamentation last night though, this was way too early for you.
The knocking never stopped, so you gave up and got out of bed. You flung the door open and gave a tired stare to the Avatar of Greed. Mammon stood with his fist raised, prepared to continue knocking on your door.
"Can I help you?" You asked with a yawn. "Heyyy my favorite human! I just uh, wanted to swing by and tell you that this mornin' I'm going to give you the privilege of cookin' breakfast with me!" Mammon explained proudly.
This wasn't the first time Mammon had come to your door to "let you help" with breakfast. It actually happened pretty frequently. Mammon never was good about asking you for help though, so it always ended up like this.
"You forgot about breakfast again huh?" You yawned, and walked past him into the hall. "Of course not! I-" "Mammon we're wasting cooking time talking about it," you couldn't help but tease him. The embarrassed pout on his face cracked you up every time.
Mammon was quiet as he followed you into the kitchen, although you were sure he would have quite a bit to say under different circumstances.
When Mammon showed up at your door in his pajamas, you wondered if your room was his first stop. Seeing the empty kitchen counters confirmed your thoughts. "Aww man, you didn't even get the food set out this time!"
"Hey I know I'm not made of money, but I ain't made of time either!" Mammon grumbled as he dug around in the fridge.
Even though he didn't have anything set out, you were at least relieved to see that all of the dishes were clean. It was probably safe to assume that Lucifer stayed up a little extra to get the house cleaned up, and you were thankful.
"So, that party last night—" He paused to look back at you, a curious look on his face, "—you and Belphie okay?"
You didn't answer right away, but Mammon didn't press it. Compared to the calmness of this morning, last night felt like such a blur. The exchange with Valac overshadowed your memories of the rest of the evening. If it hadn't been for Belphegor showing up, things were likely to have gotten nasty.
It was nice (and admittedly a little weird) to feel safe around him again. Spending the remainder of the ball at his side didn't bother you in the slightest like it would have before. It almost would have bothered you not being around him, and that realization felt very weird. Thinking on it too much began to stress you out, so you decided to deal with those thoughts later.
"Yeah, we're good. Better than we've been in a while," you joked. Mammon looked like he wanted to say something, but that he wasn't entirely sure what to say. "Oh come on I thought that was a good one!"
