In a prison, several hours drive away from the Knill estate, there was a woman preparing her own set of plans.
Gina Edith Knill, the biological mother of six kids, squatted in her cell. Prison had not been kind to her and she had a black eye and split lip and those were only the visible ones. Gina's plan was simple, push the blame on her second husband, her kids and her mental state. The sentence would still exist even if it worked, but it would be reduced. That was the plan her lawyer had come up with, or perhaps she should say her son's lawyer. The involvement of Daniel was a surprise to Gina, she hadn't had much to do with him while he grew up, her mother-in-law had taken care of him when he was younger and when he was older his dad took with him to get a feel for their business. Her interactions with him were very limited and honestly she didn't remember what he looked like. She wouldn't have been that shocked if it was Gracen or even Hunter.
*Mention of child neglect and psychological abuse*
Gracen her second born she was slightly more involved mostly because her mother-in-law, the old coot, was dead. But she still threw him to the maids as much as she could, the kid was a devil, he could be devious one second and look like and angel the next. This quality was attractive to Gina, but he was too smart and too old to be taught and therefore not the obedient partner she felt she needed. Gina began to feel alienated in her own home her husband didn't listen to her much and her sons were either with their dad or uncooperative, so when Hunter was born she decided he would be the one she molded. The first thing she did was teach him not to cry. Every time he cried she would ignore him, she would only meet his needs when she felt she should. The training was rather successful for awhile, but then the baby became weak and sick, so once again the baby was passed to the maids. However when the child turned three she decided to continue the training. Gina would play the role of a loving mother but every time she was not obeyed or Hunter did something that displeased her she would ignore him completely and refuse any contact with him. Then after she would play the role of a loving mother, who was forced to punish because Hunter was being bad. This method of training proved very effective and now that both her older sons and their father was at work almost everyday nobody was the wiser about her conditioning.
It was an unfortunate turn of events when she became pregnant again, whenever she became pregnant her husband would become more attentive meaning she had to be more careful, and as the pregnancy continued her mobility was also compromised. When it was discovered that this baby was a girl, Gina was not happy. She already felt that she was losing her place in this family, that she was easily replaceable. Now that there was another girl in the house her position was already compromised and her one obedient son would not be enough to keep her here. Unfortunately with her husbands vigilance and the guidance of private doctors and dietitians there was no opportunity for something to go wrong with the pregnancy and thus Delia was born.
With each passing year it became more and more clear that Gina's nightmare was becoming a reality, it was still manageable when Delia was a baby, but when she began to become mobile and babble nonsense her indifferent sons became her loyal fans and even her husband paid more attention to Delia. Gina began to plan her escape, beginning with siphoning off portions of her husbands wealth, next she got fake ID's for her and Delia. Why should she allow her daughter to live the life she wanted? And lastly Gina wrote a letter filled with enough nonsensical emotional drivel, and guilt tripping for her husband not to chase after them.
The plan went of without much of a hitch except for one thing — Hunter rebelled. As the one person in the household obedient to her, Gina had been using Hunter to pack items, get more money and ask questions people would be suspicious if she asked. However on the night before she left Hunter seemed to realize what was going on and that his mother was leaving them and taking his precious little sister with her. Hunter threatened to tell his father and his brothers. But Gina took care of that by explaining that he was now an accomplice if they found out he had helping all along they would hate him. Hunter was hesitant, but stubbornly replied that he would still go through with it, if she didn't agree not to leave. Gina threatened and pleaded, but it didn't work so finally she agreed, naive as Hunter was he believed her. The next night Gina left just as she planned, but she also left another letter this one was for Hunter. After reading the letter Hunter never mentioned anything to his family and disheartened his father stopped looking for Gina and Delia.
Gina got away safely and began to lay low for awhile. In the process she found a man who was a willing accomplice to her, as they got along l, Gina decided to further her veil by marrying him. But soon after they married Gina discovered a problem she was pregnant. It was decided that the babies should be kept, this would effectively deter anyone who came looking for them and even if her first husband found them she could always claim that the children where Jake's. That would be enough for her first husband to back off. It was a water tight plan and it worked too. Up until they got caught.
