"It's almost time for lunch." Gracen said letting his gaze slid to Daniel.
"Mm-hm." Daniel muttered an affirmation. The two oldest brothers were in Daniel's office Gracen on the couch and Daniel behind his desk on his laptop. Gracen sighed, Daniel may be intelligent when it came to work matters, but sometimes he was just to dense. Sometimes he wondered if he was really the younger of the two.
"Delia hasn't had any food today since she skipped breakfast." Gracen once again hinted. Delia had been her room since Daniel had sent her there after accusing her of injuring their mother. The twins had later attempted to sneak in and check on her, but they had been forbidden to do so. And since they didn't want to bring more trouble or worry to their sister the twins obeyed after several puppy-eye begging attempts that failed.
"Is that so." Daniel said absentmindedly still looking at the screen in front of him as he answered some emails for work.
"Daniel Ulysses Knill, go get Delia out of her room so she can eat lunch with us. I didn't argue with you when you decided to send her to her room out of suspicion that she may have hurt our mother, but hell will freeze over before I let you starve her or any of my other siblings." Gracen's voice was calm and sharp.
Looking up and meeting Gracen's furious gaze Daniel was startled. Did Gracen really think he would starve Delia. Sure he disliked her and she deserved a punishment, but he wasn't going to put her health at danger for that. Besides missing two meals couldn't do that damage to a young teenage girl, right?
"Grace--" Daniel began to say before a fierce gaze on Gracen's part cut off his speech in it's infancy. Muttering under his breath Daniel shut down his computer and stood up, making note to scold Gracen later. Once he wasn't in his mama bear mode that is.
"While your at it remind the twins it'll be time to eat soon, they have been playing games with Hunter." Gracen added, perfectly ignoring Daniel's grumbling.
Daniel nodded and headed down the hallway towards Delia's room. Soon he came to her room, it took him awhile to remember which guest room she had moved into.
"Delia you can come out now its time to eat." Daniel said after he rapped his knuckles on the door and gotten no response. Leaning towards the door Daniel listened closely for any movement to let him know that Delia had received his message. When there was response Daniel decided to try a different tactic.
"Gracen will be worried if you don't come eat lunch especially since you skipped breakfast." Silence presided still. "If you don't want to go tell Gracen because I have already fulfilled my role." Daniel's patience had reached it's limit.
"Delia, I know your mad but--." Daniel said as he opened the door, but once again his voice halted as he say Delia laying on the floor. Stepping forward he went to wake her up, but as he got further into the room he noticed that her form was curled into a fetal position, as she hugged a trashcan. Daniel's heart began to beat fast as he rushed closer to her. Seeing her tear stains and a flushed face his panic increased. Was she sick? Why didn't she get help? He had told her to remain in her room, but she should have known she could come out and ask for someones help if she was feeling unwell. As Daniel reached for Delia prying her arms away from the trashcan he noticed that she was shivering and her skin was clammy. As he moved the trashcan he saw a clear liquid in the bottom of it. Turning his attention back to Delia he started to panic he didn't know what to do. Gracen was usually the one that took care of Hunter when Hunter got sick. Gracen! He should call Gracen.
"Gracen! Delia is sick! Come quickly!" Daniel yelled. Not waiting for a response he decided it was best to call Andrew, Daniel didn't partially like them, but Andrew was a doctor that he had on call, plus he had Delia's medical records.
"Hello, this is Daniel. Delia is sick could yo--" For the third time today Daniel was interrupted. As Andrew had immediately hung up after he heard that Delia was sick after a quick, "I'm coming.". Daniel seemed to recall that when he was sick that Gracen would force him into bed and cover him with a blanket. Picking up Delia her sweatshirt shifted showing some of her scars. Sharply breathing in Daniel stared for a moment before bringing Delia the rest of the way to her bed and tucking her in. As soon as he had down so Gracen rushed into the room and dashed toward her bedside, ignoring Daniel in favor of his unwell little sister. After touching her forehead Gracen flinched backward. She was burning up.
"She wasn't responding, when I came to get here. So I came in and she was just lying on the ground wrapped around that trashcan over there. I didn't know what to do. I called you and the called Andrew. He said he was coming." Daniel said trying to inform Gracen of the situation so he would relax.
"Get out."
"What?" Daniel asked puzzled.
"I said. Get out." Gracen said, his voice dark with no room for argument.
