Chapter Two
back in actionTHE former Stark Tower was now renovated to be the headquarters of Avengers. Somehow, Tony decided to be the overall sugar daddy of the group of heroes. He provided everyone with suits, techs, and a place to stay. A wealthy sugar daddy.
Steve and I entered the tower, my eyes roaming around the new devices and inventions that I knew Tony and Doctor Banner had been playing with. Some of them look familiar due to some videos Tony sent me, showing off his toys. It's his pathetic way of convincing me to officially work for him and even join the Avengers.
I honestly don't know what they need someone like me for. They already have everyone they will ever need on board. A legendary soldier, a genius billionaire, a doctor with anger issues, a god, and two highly trained assassins. There's no need for an ordinary former agent like me anymore.
But, Tony's stubborn. He doesn't necessarily take no for an answer.
The said spoiled brat of a man was the one to greet me and Steve, ushering me to where I assumed the other Avengers were waiting. Tony explained everything I needed to know. They were basically looking for Loki's scepter, and they believe the remaining HYDRA goons have their hands on that source of power. Something that doesn't sit right not only to Thor but to all of them.
"Hey." Nat was the first one to greet me as soon as I entered the control room. She gave me a quick hug that was immediately followed by Clint's fatherly one. It's really amusing how he continues to act like a father to me even when Nat told him of my true identity.
I gave the other Avengers an acknowledging nod, all of them returning it. Tony then guided me towards the glass screen table where a map of the country is showing.
"Alright, enough with the greetings. Let's go down to business." He announced and that was enough for everyone to turn all of their attention to the problem at hand.
"So, from what we know, the scepter is currently at the hands of HYDRA. Thanks to them infiltrating SHIELD, they were able to hide it and are probably planning to use it for their own good." Tony explained, swiping at the screen for it to produce a 3D picture of Loki's scepter.
"What we need to know is where they're hiding it." He continued, looking at me. I raised a brow at him, asking what he meant by the look he's giving me.
Nat sighed before walking closer to me. "We already visited all of the HYDRA facilities that we found based on the information we got when we took down SHIELD."
"There were a lot of rats, but there was no scepter." Clint continued.
"We're hoping you can help us find the other hidden facilities." It was Bruce who finished their seemingly practiced dialogue. I glanced at Steve, wondering if he knew about all of these. And as expected, he avoided my gaze, confirming my suspicions.
