It feels so damn good to sit down.
It feels like we've been hiking for miles.
Well, at least to my out of shape ass. Logan still looks like he could run a mile in under a minute.
"It's so pretty up here." I smile, Mason and Logan sitting to my right, a giggling Alice and Rib following behind.
I hear sighs of agreement.
The sun is shining, and I realize how tired I am. I manage to find a flat piece of rock, laying on my stomach and looking out over the edge, surrounded with scents of woods and dirt, and images of trees and the bright, blue sky.
I hear Logan and Mason talking in the background, and fall asleep soundly to the side of his voice; on the cold, hard ground.
.....
I don't know how long I slept for, but I open my eyes and realize it's only now getting dark so it couldn't have been that long.
"I have to, Mason"." I hear Logan, and I should probably go over to them but I find myself curious as to what my boy talks about.
"You can't. You're being ridiculous." Mason counters, his voice straining.
"You make it seem like it's an option Mason. After all of the shit she's been through, I'm not dragging her into this."
He's talking about me.
"She wouldn't have to know."
My ears perk up.
"For the love of God Mason, I can not do this to her again." Logan breathes.
"He's threatened you. He's threatened her."
"Who's threatened me?" I finally say, sitting up and realizing they were a good 40 feet away.
"Of course you heard that." Logan grimaces, taking his head in his hands, his fists clenching. He moves his hands to the dirt, roughly pulling at the grass and digging his skin into the edge of the rock.
"Who's threatening me?" I ask again, sitting up straighter, noticing how angry he is.
"Hunter." Logan answers, clenching his fists tighter and standing up to pace.
"Why?" I ask simply, standing up myself.
"He wants a rematch. Says if he doesn't get it, you're gone." He growls, kicking the edge of the tree, sending a rusting throughout it.
"I'm, gone?"
He nods, "It's basic English. He's taking you away."
"Are you going to rematch him?" I ask, not really knowing what answer I wanted. I'd thought the games were behind us.
He shakes his head, "No."
At this, Mason sends him a warning glance before jogging away to leave us alone.
"What are you going to do?"
He shrugs, "Leave. I'm gonna leave."
I laugh out loud, the sound reverberating off the ends of the trees.
"That might be the funniest thing I've heard all day, Logan." I nod, standing up and dusting off the remnants of dirt from my shorts.
He shakes his head, "This is serious, Katherine. I am not putting you in that sort of danger again."
"You know damn well you're not going anywhere."
"If it's what's best for you then fuck yes I am."
