Thomas's POV (now that's a first)

I didn't even know why I was complaining in the first place. I had a well-off position at the age of 26 in a huge company that payed more than my yearly expenses and I barely ran into any problems. I could easily take a leave to visit my family or get shitfaced, I was respected and dare I say even likable within my workplace.

But this party made me realize that this company was a waste of time.

One of the higher ups had opted on throwing a 'modest' birthday party for their dog turning 10 years during the weekends, how the CEO approved of it? I wouldn't want to know. However, it was mandatory that all employees would attend including the different branches of the company plastered all around the globe so to describe it as modest is just contradicting. Bunch of idiots, they were. And of course, here I was, dressed but definitely not impressed with how everything was going. It was crowded with lots of unfamiliar faces and it was suffocating to be here, literally. I could feel my back starting to sweat so I, as politely as I can, treaded through thousands of people to hopefully get out of this miserable event.

A few excuse me's later, I felt the slightly cool air from the huge aperture of the event hall that they left open and immediately grabbed a champagne from the waiter walking around and downed it.

If I'm going to be here for a long time, might as well get drunk so hopefully I could just forget about this. Luckily though, I saw trays of wine and alcohol just on a table beside me so I took advantage of it and drank each varied colored drinks. All of a sudden though, I could feel a burning gaze on my back making me turn around only to meet a mysterious pair of eyes staring straight through me not too far from me before they retreated further from me. With this, my interest piqued.

Who the hell was that?

The next actions I did were most unexpected as I actually decided to go after this person. Why exactly? I... I didn't know. I just felt somewhat of a pull towards them as if I was bewitched or something. I spotted the familiar color of the clothes they were wearing and started to walk a bit faster before stopping just at least a few feet away from them. I cleared my throat and with my back straightened, I tap my shoes onto the marble floor and settle next to them, their scent overwhelming my senses.

Maybe I went too overboard with the alcohol earlier.

"So uh, I saw you staring at me back in the main area." I said awkwardly and I almost punched myself then and there with my words. I could only get a glimpse of their side profile looking over the balcony as my sight blurred a bit.

"What's your position in this company, a manager perhaps?" They finally spoke and I felt myself baffled at the question but unconsciously shuffle closer, trying to bask in the presence strangely.

"Marketing manager." I managed to answer without slurring or stuttering my words which admittedly was impressive as I could feel a wave of dizzy spells coming over me.

"Interesting."

"What about you? What... what are you doing here?" It was my turn to ask and they chuckled in response as their body faced me, features though disappointingly wavering at my line of sight.

What the hell did they put in that damn alcohol.

"Well I couldn't exactly decline with the invitation knowing that he handles the finances of the company."

"No." I blurted bravely, pointing a finger, "What is your position?"

Their brow quipped up and a sly grin covered the attractive set of lips, "I'm on the top. Let's just leave it at that."

"Hmm, you don't sound like you're from here." I commented as I walk closer to them, stumbling slightly over my shoes but hands encircle my wrists gently, preventing me from falling down.

"I'm not. Just merely visiting although I have a feeling that we'll see each other quite often." Their voice sounded so soothing to my ears that I gave them a sheepish smile as I clumsily leaned over the railing, unintentionally breaking myself from their hold. The sound of their shoes tapping against the floor startled me momentarily as soon, their face was only a few feet away from me, an elbow resting on the same railing while their cheek pressed onto the palm of their hand.

"Mm sure, I-i wouldn't mind seeing such a face like yours at work. Oh, in fact, hold that thought. I WOULD actually mind! You being there would f-fucking wreck me, I'll just stare at you the whole fucking time. Will I worship the ground you walk on? Hell yeah."

"That'd be nice, huh? My English love affair. Do you like the sound of that?" The teasing tone resonating in my throbbing head that I barely processed any of it and just nodded before slumping my head onto my hands that rested on the railing of the balcony and everything went dark.
