Barista! (kinda) Thomas x Non-Binary Reader
-
Every day, at exactly 9:00 in the morning the same person who wore a random colored hoodie and jeans sat on the same spot near the window at a coffee shop.
Every day, a new book was found in their hands, occasionally fumbling with it or just turning it plainly. Eyes down casted and focused intently on the storyline, paying no attention to the surroundings.
Every day, the boy that worked behind the counter waited for that familiar figure to come and sit at that coffee shop. He had to be honest, it was just a part time job while he was on a small break.
Ever since he saw them, he almost never wanted to leave. Too bad they had to.

It was 7:00 in the evening, stars shone brightly in contrast with the dark abyss, the person exits the coffee shop with just a blink of his eye. He couldn't help but feel sad, watching them retreat not just from the coffee shop. But from his life too.
Today.
It was 8:50 in the morning and he couldn't help but feel giddy and excited. He couldn't wait to serve the person. He waited behind the counter and casually took orders from the customers.
8:57 AM
He glanced at the wall clock that was placed on the wall, taking a deep breath to calm his nerves.
In and out.
In and out.
Come on, Sangster.
9:00 AM
His head snapped up as he heard the quiet ring of the bell. The sound he had been used to when a costumer came in.
It was them but quite different. They were wearing an outfit that he usually wouldn't see them wearing. They looked beautiful.
Thomas saw how the color of their hair highlighting the attractive face that came with it, eyelashes fluttering every time fingers gripped the page softly and flipped.
Thomas noticed this all but someone cleared their throat making the love-struck boy jump in surprise and turn around seeing his friend Ki Hong Lee standing there with an amused expression.
"So your 'person' is here? I assume?" He teased as he pushes Thomas in the back which made him stumble and Ki Hong Lee earned a glare from the sandy-haired boy.
"Dude you've been eyeing them for quite a while, you better make your move because we'll only be here for 3 more days. Our manager informed us that we had to be back on set to film."
"Can I do it? I-i don't think I can." Thomas asked feeling nervous all of a sudden, hands sweating.
"Of course man. Introduce yourself, talk for a bit and then ask for their number. No harm in doing that. Go on, lover boy."
Thomas walked passed through the tables that were full of people on their laptops or sipping coffee and having a normal conversation, he could feel the twisting on his stomach as he was near them. He was sure that he could smell their scent.
The early breeze of spring.
This is it, Sangster. Don't screw this up.
"Good morning, m-may I take your order?" He stuttered a bit making him slap himself mentally.
The figure looked up, warm eyes meeting his causing his stomach go wild with all the butterflies. It was so weird but it was a good weird.
"I'll just have a cappuccino. Thank you." They replied.
"Of course, will that be all?" He asked which elicited a smile from the figure whom he took an order from.
A few minutes had passed and Thomas finally went back, cappucino on one hand, heart on the other. He cleared his throat at the beautiful person who was so enticed with their reading that they barely noticed the waiter coming back.
"Your order." He said as he placed the cup down, the steam creating like a separate barrier between them.
"Uh I don't usually do this but may I sit with you? If you don't mind, I just got off my shift. " Thomas asked kindly, the person look partly surprised but still happily obliged with his offer and motioned him to sit down.
"Of course."
Thomas took a seat and fumbled with his jeans, feeling the nervous high. He peeked at the cover of the book curiously and it wrote:
The Death Cure
"Nice book" Thomas chuckled, interest incredibly piqued. He didn't know that they liked those kind of books.
"Oh uh thanks. Have you read this yet?" They inquired, meeting eyes with the handsome man sat on the opposite of them. They'd be lying if they wouldn't admit that the guy was handsome. He honestly reminded them of someone but who exactly was it?
"Of course, read it 3 times." Thomas declared proudly, puffing up his chest and making the person laugh with Thomas feeling his heart stutter and yearning to hear it once again.
"So who's your favorite character? Mine's obviously Newt. He's pretty cool." Thomas explained, his voice calm but his heart and stomach was far from it.
"I'd have to say Newt as well! He's an awesome character but too bad he dies. Stupid Thomas." They mutter the last sentence making Thomas panic, thinking it was him they were talking about but then realized that it was the character.
"I'm Y/N. If ever you're wondering." They said offering a hand to the man who gratefully shook it although his own was shaking a bit when he pulled away. The feeling of their touch with his was really pleasant and calming.
"Thomas" He introduced himself, smiling at them which they returned.
"You know, it's really rare that someone would be so interested in books like these. We need more people like you, Thomas. I hope I get to meet you again."
"Of course, oh hold on... " Thomas paused as he fumbled around his pocket and finally handing Y/N a card with his number on it which surprised the latter greatly.
"So you hand random people your calling card?" They grin jokingly, a teasing look in their eyes.
"Just the pretty ones."
