THE NIGHT quickly turned to day and as each hour passed the more Jasper and Alice seemed to understand the youngest Swan.

The demons that she suppressed and the confusion she felt late in the night as they talked, She lowered her head on Alice's lap and closed her eyes falling asleep.

The vampire was tense immediately but calmed upon hearing the soft sounds of her heart beating lightly against her ribcage, the sound of Allegra's body fighting to stay alive.

Alice paused for a minute thinking, how exhausting it must be for a human to fight this hard to survive.

It wasn't until Edward returned with alarming news that a nomad had entered the Swan home that  Alice finally left the girl on the couch to sleep.

"Who was it? Someone we know?" Alice asked arms crossed.

"Just a stranger. I didn't recognise his scent," Edward spoke calmly but he was frigid muscles tense with fear and frustration.

"A nomad passing through?" Esme pondered.

"A passer-by wouldn't have left Bella's father alive."

Bella's chilled by the thought. Esme wraps an arm around her just as the door burst open. Jasper enters.

"His scent disappeared five miles south of Bella's house," he informed his family returning to he's partners side clinging to her.

Edward shook his head, "someone's orchestrating this."

"Victoria?"

"I would've seen her deciding."

He shrugs, "then it has to be the Volturi."

Alice dismissed the idea, "I don't think it's the Volturi either. I've been watching Aro's decisions too."

"So we keep looking." Emmett adds.

"We also take shifts, guarding Bella at her house."

Jasper shifts in place, "and Allegra."

"Another protection detail?" Rosalie exclaims, her eyebrows knitted together with frustration and annoyance.

"No, she's right. You can't protect me, watch my dad... ... and search for the intruder. And for Victoria. And keep yourselves fed."
