THE SWAN home was quiet and dark, the double story home stood so still that no one would know that a soul lived there. As the sun begun to rise the inhabitants stirred awakening to face the day.

Allegra Swan sat on her windowsill legs dangling dangerously from the second story window, a cigarette hung loosely from her lips as she wiggled her hips trying to get situated in place.

Her eyes watched as the sun's rays casted a bright light across the dark sky, a cool breeze drifting in as forks usual temperature got settled, reminding the teenage girl that it was constantly winter in the small town of only 3,828 people.

The cigarette burned quickly as Allegra inhaled the nicotine, her lungs burned in response but still the pain was dimmer than the ache she felt in her heart and brain.

Faint sounds of floorboards creaking scare the girl from her trance, she pulls the cancer stick from her mouth and puts it out tossing the butt into the woods only metres away.

She climbed from the windowsill and gently pulled it shut, Allegra threw herself back into bed and squeezed her eyes shut curling up in a ball.

Only moments later, the door swung open and Charlie Swan lingered by the entrance clearing his throat "Allegra, sweetheart."

The girl opened a single eye and rolled over pretending to stretch and yawn, "morning dad." Her voice was still deep and lacking the usual highness.

"Bella is cooking breakfast, said something about you guys leaving for school early." He said.

Allegra wouldn't lie, these words frustrated her greatly.

She sat up catching his attention, "can you take me to school? I don't feel like riding with Bella today."

Charlie shrugged lazily, "sure but I have to leave soon kiddo."

Allegra climbed out of bed and walked over to her wardrobe, she ruffled through the clothes for a moment before pulling something out.

The man of the house hastily slamming the door shut behind, it made a chuckle rise at the back of her throat.

To understand Charlie's and Allegra's relationship, you have to understand, although they aren't attached to the hip his teenage daughter considers him to be her best friend.

There isn't a day that goes by that they aren't seen together, having a coffee or lounging lazily on the sofa with the game on their flat screen.
